Flat tyre light on, but no flat tyre??

Post by ChrisW » Thu Jan 29, 2015 8:13 pm

My car is telling me I have a flat tyre, but upon checking all the pressures all are at 31psi?

Is one of my tyre pressure monitors goosed?

yeah likely is a sensor battery flat or faulty , try and reset the pressures on the DIS , maybe one of the pressures was higher when you last entered them ? it , i have done that before but not making them all the same as the hose wasn't long enough and just did the one that was a bit low

If the battery or sensor goes don't you get a different symbol than if the tyre is flat? I seem to recall a flat yellow symbol for low pressures or a red one with a cross through it for no communication?

Mine went from yellow for low pressure at the time of a puncture to red fairly rapidly when the tyre was completely flat.
Had to do a reset when I fitted my winter tyres and wheels cos the system was registering low pressure when all was fine.

31psi seems a bit low. The manual recommend 38psi at the front and 35psi at the rear. With the cold weather we're getting at the moment, you're tyres will need pumping up as the pressure will be lower than what it was in the summer.

My yellow tyre warning came on last week for the very same reason, it was about 32psi when I normally have it on recommended pressure.

i get a yellow for a slight loss one my right rear and its usually around 30 , when i don't drive it for 2 weeks while away it comes up red and the pressure is around 26 psi as i have a slight rim leak , i blow the tyres up to 35 and reset it , so red with the cross through it doesn't mean no comms? i reckon is excessive loss compared to stored pressure or a rapid loss obviously like when a punter happens

What you are all saying computes, as this is the first time in my ownership where we've had some really low temperatures. I'll put some more air in them tomorrow.

thanks guys :)

So I have a development on this. All tyres are up to correct pressure, but now I'm getting the red animated check your tyre pressure symbol? I can't access the menu to reset my tyre pressures as this red monstrosity is plastered all over the DIS.

Is it time to check the pressure sensors at the garage?
