b7 on axle stands

Post by birdiemachine » Mon Jan 26, 2015 5:59 pm

Would you do it?

Really want to get my alloys refurbed, not sure if my old r32 speedlines will fit over the brakes, they are 19inch and i think 9 inches wide, need to check.

If they don't fit, would you chance leaving the b7 on 4 axle stands for a week or am i asking for trouble?

Probably a stupid question but i know it's quite a fatty so wanted to check.

Cheers

Yes they'll fit mate, but you'll need some spacers. Are they 42's?

Why would you be asking for trouble? Is it not garaged?

Need to dig them out of my shed and check if they'll fit on, they should do as they were stupidly wide for the r32.

What i mean is there a chance of something moving or giving way leaving a heavy car like that on four tiny stands for over 7 days?!?

It will be in a garage with a alarm and cctv and a very large dog lol so not worried about that.

Cheers jay

No, as long as you put them in the right place it'll sit there for months with no bother. Thats how you should store a car for a long period of time anyway.

Yes , absolutely fine.

My black one has been on stands since Aug/Sep, it looks like a barn find now with the amount of dust on it

Ideally do it with two jacks as it could slide off when doing one end at a time.

yes it should be fine. i would try to put the stands around where the suspension mounts to the chassis as that will be the strongest and safest place.

I did just this, Had car up on stands out in the elements for 2 weeks while having wheels refurbished and there were no problems. I put the stands under the plastic jacking points! Put the front ones in first as they take the most weight. Rears are easy.
