TPMS fault - VCDS help in N. Ireland

Post by Pistolpete2543 » Mon Jan 26, 2015 1:23 am

Evening all, thanks to everyone on the forum for guidance, I have now purchased a Sprint Blue RS4 Avant. Loving the car so far, but after just over a weeks ownership, I've got the TPMS fault symbol up (yellow tyre with line through it). I guess this means a sensor faulty or the antenna behind rear bumper.

My question is would VCDS pinpoint where the actual fault lies (i.e. cand it tell me which sensor is at fault, or at least tell me it's a sensor or an antenna fault)?

Finally, anybody relatively local to Belfast that can diagnose this for me? Or am I going to have to get it plugged in at the dealers?

I am also interested in this. My light came on at the weekend despite the car having 4 new sensors fitted earlier in the year!

I have VCDS if you are ever around Sligo. You can use it to identify which sensor is generating the error.

FYI - I had a TPMS issue and the valve was leaking. New seal sorted it.

Is there a way to replace the batteries in the TPMS in the wheel or is it a sealed unit?

Thanks guys, unfortunately nobody very close. I thought there was a guy on here who had something to do with AI Autosport and he had a lovely sprint blue avant also. He would be pretty close to me.

I'm going to book the car into Terry McEvoy for a wee service & inspection anyway as I've heard good things about him, so I presume he has the diagnostic equipment.

I've had a similar issue. Replaced all 4 sensors a month or so before Christmas due to a fault. Took it to a local audi specialist they said there is a way to pinpoint which sensor on certain versions of the tpms in the vag range but couldn't figure which one it was on mine. Anyway I replaced all four and selected the wheel change option in the on bored computer and the fault went away..........until after driving back from gatwick just before Christmas in very heavy rain the next morning ping, up comes the fault. So rather annoyed I reset the wheels and it goes away, next day ping. This went on for a few days untill some mobile traffic lights on my route to work got removed....then no more fault so I thought it must be interference.......untill i left my car for a week over Christmas. Sorry dribbling on a bit, long story short emptied the air out of all the tyres to remove any moisture and reinflated with dry air that was filtered from a compressor at work. Took it for a long drive, No more fault. Hope this helps.
