Hi Guys, I was just wondering what your experience is with your car's clutch since ownership, what mileage yours is on or lasted for. I will prob jinx it now but luckily I haven't had any issues and I am still on the original which seems pretty impressive.

I believe mine is still on the original at 92k. What's the mileage on yours?

Yep - first trip is looking to be April (long Easter weekend - Fri to Mon) - I'd love to go before then but the weather is just not reliable enough really. The clutch was giving me a bit of trouble on the last visit (difficult to select 2nd gear coming down the box after several back to back laps - was better when cooled down a bit). I also can't launch and with the launch control and full throttle gearshift now mapped in, I'm conscious of accelerating the problem!
Have yo looked at clutch options (or places to fit) yet? I'm thinking about getting something slightly more manly than standard clutch so I can abuse the car a little with launches etc but haven't yet investigated costs. Only had a price for a stock clutch fitted from MRC which was a bit eye watering!

ahh that's cool, I was thinking around that time also so will give you a shout if I am heading over. To be honest I haven't looked at any options at all yet. I thought I had issues in Nurburg whilst doing a fast pull away nr the Petrol Station, it absolutely stunk for miles of burning but it cooled off and didnt notice any affects which was a massive relief. I must admit I do get a bit paranoid after a few laps that something will go pop, I was stressing like mad when I parked up and saw a puddle of water nr the front wheel, turned out it was condensation from the air con haha!

My original clutch and fly wheel was replaced at ~40k miles.
I put that down to this being my first ever manual car after driving 4 years.
The clutch plate went again 8k miles later, then began to prematurely ware 4k after that (Audi replaced it under warranty).
No problems with the current OEM clutch, even after numerous track days and exuberant driving on top of daily duties during its 20k+ miles

Bought the car new and it always smell of burning clutch after a spirited drive, which could be as simple as putting my foot down to joining a motorway from a slip road. I took it to my local dealer a few time, but I was told there was nothing wrong with the clutch every time. After about 14K miles, I've found it difficult to engage 1st gear, so I took it to the dealer to see what was wrong. They took it out for a test drive and came back saying that I should not drive it. I was due to go on holiday the next day, so I left my car with them. A few days later, I got a call to say that my clutch and flywheel needs replacing due to misuse, which I know I didn't. As I was on holiday, it was costing me money to argue my case, so I agreed to a goodwill discount, but it still cost me over £1,500. With the new clutch, I don't have any of the problems I have with the original, yet my driving style hasn't changed.

I changed the original clutch at 70k before Spa as I thought it might be on a cusp of needing replacing. Next one lasted 2.5k miles and two months due to a parts fault - I thought I was down on power even after carbon clean, deflap and solenoids renewed. Turns out the clutch was slipping through the peak torque range! I got the whole thing done again under the parts warranty including the parts that hadn't failed, arguing they would have been exposed to premature wear and tear also. And I got a B8 RS4 to play in while I was waiting. The clutch is bedded in nicely now. Feels much better than the 70k one.
