My b7 avant

I've had my rs4 for a few months now. And all I can say is what an utter piece of s?!t. Only joking!! This is probably about the best car I've ever owned. It's an absolute pleasure to drive and the power and the noise are both amazing. It truely is the ultimate practical super car. The one thing that nobody seems to talk about though is the fuel economy. It's shockingly good on fuel. I was seeing about 36mpg on the trip back from Scotland with the cruise on at a steady 75. And after a few months of mixed driving it's showing an average of 27. For a 400bhp 4.2 v8 motor in what is quite a heavy, well equipped car. This is amazing! I expected her to be a gas guzzling pain in the arse to live with on a daily basis, but she is the exact opposite. I think a trip to unit 20 for a remap is in order in the new year!!

36 MPG!!!
I wouldn't have thought that possible. Best I've ever seen ( pre charger) was about 27 and that was being as thrifty as I could on a longish run.

I drive a truck for a living so we are all about being thrifty! But I've seen it a few times now. It seems to have a bit of a sweet spot in top gear between 70 and 75 where it gets good mpg. I know it's meaningless in a v8 sports car but I've had quite a few performance cars and this is the only one that has genuinely suprised me

I don't understand the bragging about getting low mpg? Is it like a 'my dad's bigger than your dad' thing?
Does everyone generally use their rs4's on a daily basis or are they used as weekend toys??

I average 22 in the beast. I used to get 27 in my mk1 v6 tt and that was taking it easy.....
