If they are standard size you should run them at the recommended pressures. I always did and had no problems.

If they are bigger wheels/lower profile should they differ?

I always thought so but have never got a definitive answer from the Internet. Some say you should use the same pressure but my mind is telling me a lower profile tyre should be running a higher pressure but I might be wildly misguided.

I think this theory comes from the fact that the manufacturer of most cars gives a couple of options for wheel & tyre sizes in the manual or on the door shut. And ever time I've ever looked the bigger wheel / lower profile combo has had a different tyre pressure from the smaller wheel / bigger profile combo and pretty sure the bigger wheel has had the higher pressure.
If by going up a wheel size you should keep the same pressure then why do the manufacturers say otherwise?

thanks lads. just curious as it feels very firm over poor surfaces. i think i,m running mine about 42 all round so might drop 3-4 psi out and see how it differs.

What does the book say? I can't remember off the top of my head but that sounds a little high to me.

38 front, 35 rear from memory with three people in the car. Five people and it goes up to about 41.
