Recaro Seats: Leather Trim Detaching from Backplate

Post by CharlieD » Fri Nov 21, 2014 11:26 am

Just hit my 10th week of Audi RS4 ownership, and I've started to notice the little things... today's issue is my Recaro seats... luckily the leather itself is in good condition, only issue is it seems to not like the Recaro frame very much...

Not sure if this is a common problem (I searched these forums and couldn't find anything)... I've called up Audi to see if this is a manufacturer's fault... their service dept was busy so they'll call me back later... in the meantime I'm not holding my breath on that one though!

Anyone got any ideas / experienced this issue? :drink:

My friends S3 is as bad as this, and my drivers seat has a little bit of this problem (no where near as bad as this though) so I'm interested to hear your replies :)

When I had an rs4 I had this issue....You can squeeze them back into place though so was never a real problem for me...

I delear wont do anything because it will come under "wear and tear" of trim

Yea I can squeeze them back in but the moment I fidget or get in/out of the car it'll pop out again :P

What he said, should just be able to push back in. I've also experienced this on other fabric bucket seats ive owned as well as the current RS4 bucket seats, never been an issue though

You need to push them with plastic tools (similar as for dismounting interior parts).

Like this:

I used 2 two from the bottom on the picture.

Mine did the same but pushing it in didn't help. When I stripped the back leather off completely to wrap the seats it went back on with no problems so maybe you just need to peel it off all the way round them push back in properly. Should only take a few minutes to do the whole back.

Same as Mike has already said did the same with mine as it was lifting although eventually it lifted again and ended up getting all the seats re-trimmed to freshen the car up.
