Fitting rs5 brakes

Post by Jules » Wed Nov 19, 2014 10:41 am

HI All

I'm thinking of removing my 16 pot tarox from the b7 and selling seperate.
Last night i picked up some regular rs5 front brakes, the calipers etc look the same the discs
are one piece but the same size.
Also the centre bore will of course be different but easy to remedy.
But its the offset im unsure about being different so wondered if anything was required to make them fit.
They also come with almost new yellow stuff pads so would be good to use them.

Or worse case is it just swapping the discs and its a straight fit ?

Thanks
Jules

I just had 1 front and rear pair of new RS5 brake discs at my office and took the change to measure them:)

Now the piece of paper with the results are at my office desk but the only main difference is at front.
There is a difference in depth of appr. 7mm meaning that they will not straight fit with RS4 brake calibers
on a RS4 B7. They did fit straight on a S5 B8 with RS4 B7 brake calibers.

Centre bore is identical on both RS4 B7 and RS5 B8 discs. The rear discs are straight fit.

the rs5 6 disks sit too far in and the disk hits the dust shield and a small nipple on the suspension leg, not sure if you have the rs5 caliper carriers as these may make the caliper sit further in and fit the disk,

you could get some 7mm spacers and fit them between the disk and hub

Thanks Rick
Good shout with the spacer but I've hopefully
Sourced some b7 discs so hoping the calipers
Are the same so it will now be a straight fit

RS5 calipers are identical to RS4 B7 front brake calipers so it will be straight fit, Jules.

Callipers would be the same but I'd have thought the RS5 mounting brackets could be different?
