Are these SS+ Springs

Post by androidmarrs » Tue Nov 11, 2014 4:20 pm

Hi All,

Hope some one can help just to confirm if the below are SS+ springs. I cant find the build spec paperwork for my car, may not have been with the paperwork when I bought the car.

Fronts 248mm height
Rear 230mm height
(Or vise versa)

I removed these to fit the KW v3's a while back.

If it helps the anti roll bars diameters are:-
Front 31.4mm dia (Code on the bar 8 E0 411 309 N)
Rear 22.3mm dia

Cheers

Do you not have the option codes in the front inside cover of the service book? If not there is usually a Sticker on the boot floor. Failing that you could ring Audi UK to confirm option codes. You can then run the codes through an online option decoder (will try and find it for you).

The coloured stripes do not necessarily mean SS or SS+ so can't rely on that. Is your car a saloon or avant?

Also the Rear ARB part number doesn't appear to be in line with SS+. Are you sure it's 22mm thick? Or might this be allowing for additional dirt / corrosion build up?

Sorry EDIT to say the part number you supplied is for the front ARB (same part / diameter across all 8E0 chassis A4's). What's the part number for the rear bar?

Hi Marc,

thanks for the reply I will have a look in the service book, also the car is a saloon.

Found a couple of post regarding ARB thickness if you have ss+ the rear anti roll bar is 22mm if you have standard suspension it is 20mm diameter.

Yep those are the correct diameters for SS and SS+ Rear ARB's but don't take it as gospel that the springs are the same. My car has the SS+ bar and standard springs.

Option decoder is here: http://igorweb.org/equidec/

Also an extract from another thread, Surrey Sam confirmed Suspension options codes as follows:

The build code for Super Sports Suspension is 2ME, whilst the standard RS4 suspension is 2MC.

So you can just check which is listed in the service book / boot floor Sticker or ask Audi UK (or even a local dealer parts department) to confirm.

Hi, I ordered ss+ springs in the summer. On my phone so can't locate the thread but look through my posts in august - all part numbers for springs and roll bar are there. Click on my name and go through posts.

Options Sticker is no guarantee that it is on SS suspension as the previous owner may have retroftted the SS+ so Sticker will say SS.

Here are the SS+ springs off mine after fitting KW V3. As stated above the colour does not identify them as SS+

Thanks for all the help guys. Found the options code Sticker in the boot and the code is 2ME = Super sports suspension with variable shock absorption.

Now that sorted I will list the springs in classified section.

Cheers
