You'll need to reset TPMS in the DIS (wheel change option then set pressures) once you've swapped over and that's it.
Current: Macan Turbo, Boxster 987 S
Gone: RS6 C6 Avant, RS4 B7 Avant, Tamora Speed Six

didnt think the car was that clever to know pressures,

thought it flagged up when a pressure went below a your set value, and doesnt know which tyre it is

There's a sensor for each wheel that register the pressure from the nearest sensor - I understand that it also picks up the "code" from sensor itself, hence if it doesn't see that it assumes a dead battery / sensor.

That's why there's both a wheel change option (ie assumes new sensors and TPMS a re-learns them) and a pressure set option (same sensors but different pressure learning) in DIS

I thought that there was just one antennae, behind the honeycomb panel on the rear bumper. I didn't think the system could identify between wheel positions but does learn the 4 sensors codes that are appropriate to your car so that if there are other active pressure sensors in range it ignores those.
Wheel change is for when you have changed sensors due to different wheels or new sensors so that the system knows to search again. IIRC I think there is a comment in the manual that when using this feature you take care that there are no other active sensors in range.

You will have to change the pressures as they are different front to rear so I would just use the "wheel change" option in the DIS or I think there is "store pressures" option which allows for adjustments for more/less load etc. I doubt it notices a "low" tyre just a change from the stored value so I could quite see it seeing the 4 tyres being correct even though the front & rear have changed if you didn't change the pressures.
