Opinions on an issue with my RS4

Post by irishmike » Thu Oct 23, 2014 12:20 am

So a few weeks ago when I was driving to work the EPC light was on, stopped for petrol and when I started it back up the engine management light was on too.
The car was in limp mode of sorts with limited power and a bit lumpy, so as I was near my Audi garage I popped in.
They diagnosed a faulty airbox solenoid and some pipe in that region.
Fair enough, took a while for the parts but car was fixed on Friday.

Now I turned up on Tuesday to collect and car wouldn't start... They jumped it from a booster pack and sent me on the way. Just leaving the garage the EPC light was on again, along with no power and lumpy idle. Straight back I went.
Wednesday evening I got a call, the ECU is gone! Needs a new one... But apparently the car was running and driving fine on Friday....

I don't know what to make of it, might the jump start, using a booster pack, have caused an issue?

Or has anything similar happened to anyone?

mike,
Out of interest where did they hook up the booster pack?
Im sure it says in the manual never to do it at the battery only in the engine bay, not at home to check that.
You may have a case for a free repair if they went in the back.

Just been told that the new ECU might not be compatible with an existing one, so 2 engine ECU's.....:(

Jeez Mike, that's not good!! Maybe you should speak to one of the specialists in the UK and see what they say.
