That's what I like about the B7- it's easy to drive fast "in the real world" without making it feel like the car is doing everything.

A stock 335 (old shape or new shape) would run a B7 RS4 very close indeed I'd imagine?

You've got to remember too that the B7 RS4s are now 7-8 years old with relatively old technology. For me it's more about the overall experience. Yeah, a Megane/Focus ST may well keep up with you but they're compromised in other area (not least the chav looks :) ), and on wet, twisty roads I've left them. As an all rounder it's hard to beat IMO. As for mods, I'm not in the "CC's a must camp" unless the third gear test is depressingly slow. Rather spend my money on a health check for the car and a remap.

Totally agree with this. I have been embarrassed by a couple of cars before the carbon clean (mine was very bad). TBH I was actually shocked as you generally do feel quite confident in these for power. (it has stage 2 MRC with 100 cell cats and that remap will transform the car) However now with it cleaned it is a new car. I took it out last week and on heavy acceleration there was a puff of black smoke but it just flies. As above though its more the experience of driving this car that does it for me. I have even moved out the way for other crappy cars as I think they are going way too fast for the car they are in and the condition of the road... anyone can go fast, its how you control it if something were to happen that counts and the difference of having a well engineered machine or the tin can surrounding you sums it up.

I love the look and sound of my car and it always is a pleasure and thrill to drive.. these motorway munchers or light ratio cars may well be quick but I know I wouldn't have that same thrill or smile on my face as driving one of these :-)

You've hit the nail on the head mate... spot on!!

I found that it was not a love at first drive but the whole package that appealed to me.

Road presence in a rs4 b7 is seriously well recognised by all ages from kids all the way up to gramps!

The safety aspect also plays a role, ok it's a heavy old lump but catch it in the right gear when the timing is right then it will happily see most things off and if something is lucky enough to keep with you up to 130/140 then it's good night Vienna

Stock not so much, the mapped one, it really is a case of who is in the right gear and has their foot to the floor quickest. Ive lost numerous times.

I used to have a mk4 r32 and on the forum there were posts like this all the time. I know that when I get in and drive my rs, that it's a very special and rare car. It makes me smile every time I hear the exhaust and still surprises me how quick it is! I've only owned mine for 12 months now and I'm so glad a bought one

Well i must say the audis launch of the lights is where its at against any fwd car.(as you all know)
And in the b7 i find this hard to achieve.
I can honestly say in my old rs2 i recon 4 outta 5 times id have spanked the rs4 b7... but after 50 odd game over for the rs2...
And like you have all said at least the b7 sounds awesome and should hopefully be able to it for a very long time in comfort.. :FIREdevil: :FIREdevil: :FIREdevil:

just before i fitted my supercharger when i was still mrc 'everythinged' i had a run in with a yellow clio sport.

i saw him approaching fast in my rear view mirror until he was planted firmly on my rear bumper, you could tell he was up for it.
i waited for the traffic on the private road to clear then gunned it, i couldn't pull away. we approached some more traffic and had to let off the gas so i let him go in front of me, with me now right on his rear bumper.

it was then that i noticed his registration, it spelt 'CHARGED'.

traffic started to clear so i dropped it down a gear and was hovering around 6500rpm waiting for him to gun it, he dropped it down a cog and spat flames out of his exhaust and we were off. it was dead even he couldn't pull away but i couldn't catch him either till well into triple figures. maybe he backed off a bit but i dont think so, i just think the 4.2 was to much at that speed. after all, there's no replacement for displacement!.

anyway gave each other the thumbs up, and i went home and googled supercharged yellow clio sport. i found him on cliosport.net. 380bhp rotex superchargered clio sport, custom intercooler, exhaust the lot!.

i thought my old rs4 did really well, id like to bump into him again.....

Yes I had the MK5 R32 got wiped out by a MK2 golf put me in my place

I have had mine for just over a year and still the best drive of my many cars I have owned and driven over the years, whilst I like the odd challenge , its not about trying to beat everything on the road because you won't, even with supercharger, it's because the car your driving is a "cultcarpetrolheadedmeanfuggerhellofacar" Just enjoy

Great car that, my son has just fitted a mk 4 turbo engine in a mk 2, thats the nice thing about some of the older cars ....and interchanging bits and pieces

I had a MK1 Escort, fitted a 2 ltr overhead cam Pinto engine with twin 40's, all lightened and balanced, bullet 2000e gearbox, Mexico rear end, paddy hopkirk buckets, wolfrace wheels thrush exhausts, ect had it for 12 years and could not stop changing bits just loved it, went like brown stuff of a shovel....for its day!
