20 x 9 rims, ET25 and 275 tyres - B7 friendly?

Post by E14STO » Thu Oct 16, 2014 8:43 pm

As it says!
I've done loads of searches and tbh I am still confused.
I've read et 25 is fine, some say 275's rub suspension.

Do the brakes make a difference - I've got ceramics.

I'm ready for tyres and always seem to use it as an excuse to get wheels on first tyre change of any new car :-)

The RS5 rotors that I have are 20x9 ET26 so only 1mm difference. I run them with 265/30/20 and really low suspension and I don't think they rub at all. Maybe occassionally but not that I notice. Pretty sure 255/30/20 would have no rub at all, I might even need small spacers with 255.
And as the OEM wheels are ET29, running ET25 (with 255/30/20 tyres) would be the equivalent of running OEM wheels / tyres with a 4mm spacer.

Thanks guys.
Was a bit worried about the rubber that comes with being 275 and potential rub on suspension.
Cars on std B7 currently on pretty low Kw's.
No spacers.

if i get chance ill see what the spacing is from the rim/tyre to the upright, i think it was close with et26 and 255 tyres

also im about 1mm off the caliper, but will be different depending on wheel choice,

I run 275's on OEM rims... and aside from being a real pain for a very experienced tire guy to install... I have no issues at all... and IMO, they eliminate the need for spacers... and fills the wheel well perfectly.

I've pushed the button in them... Let's see if they go on ok.
Pictures to follow for opinions. Wheels are a tough choice!

We sold this fitment in the past. Fits perfectly however the profile of the wheel is pretty flat...

You can run 20x10.5 et25, slightly aggressive but works fine.

Haaa. These are actually on my car now. Yes, OP, you'll be fine w/ 20x9 et 25 on 275's.

Here's a pic of mine w/ 20x10.5 et25 w/ 275's. I'm also lowered on Ohlins:

Well after taking spigots out and replacing with 57.1mm bbs ones looks like they don't fit.

They foul the ceramic calipers....

5mm spacers needed I think.

Before I buy 5mm spacers all round - would I be better going 10mm.
They are et 25 and tyres are 275. When I out it on it looked like they were already more flush to the arch than standard. Don't want them protruding.
I really didn't want to have to sell the rubber and buy 265 30's

Assume I need longer bolts as well and longer locking bolts. Ffs
