Powerflex rear diff mount, anybody fitted yet?

Post by DaytonaRs4 » Wed Oct 15, 2014 9:22 am

i feel like i need to start investing in g/box and diff mounts and the gear changes are feeling a little sloppy....

Anybody fitted the following and able to give feedback?

http://www.powerflex.co.uk/road-series/ ... 11290.html

seems like a much less expensive alternative than the ECS £179 or akipol £230 mounts
2013 RS5 Phantom Black, MRC Stage 2 and TCU, Bilstein B16 IRC, 034 Arms, H&R ARB's, Milltek non res, ITG, 20” Ispiri FFR6 / PS4s, AP Radical 6 pot brakes / 390mm floaters, Pagid RSL1, JL Audio, EMtuning headlight build, Gtechniq ceramic and Llumar PPF

Gone: Daytona B7 RS4 saloon

If going apikol my suggestion would be to use the blue (street) version.

I have tried both and the blue (street) is by far more suited to road use.

I have never tried the powerflex insert so cannot comment.

I've just bought the powerflex one by coincidence - will let you know how I get on with it.

I have used powerflex before on previous cars and have never been impressed with how long they last. Wishbone bushes only covered 8000miles before they needed changing.

funny this ive been thinking of the Apikol mount as my driveline gets some abuse , but the expensive bit of the Apikol mount is the CNC alloy bracket which looks good and looks stronger but ive yet to hear of on OEM one fracture and on the car youll never see it but on the negative side stiffer bushes may transmit more stress to the factory mount and it may fail at some point so rock and hard place :-) i,m tempted to try the Powerflex ones , at 35 quid no big loss if it wears out in couple of years against the 230 quid Apikol one , the only thing might be getting the old mount out as it may be pressed into the alloy casting so no good after its been removed if i decide to go back to stock for some reason

I've only ever run powerflex on previous cars but they have been (literally) half the weight of the rs4 - never had any issues and enjoyed the improvement.

Well I have fitted the powerflex mount to mine and done a fair few miles and 12 launches at crail drag strip and there is a noticeable difference :-) after hard acceleration then maybe coming off throttle in S mode there is almost no thump from the driveline now . The original mount had no visible deterioration but deffo had some give in it as its a "void" bush design . There is no harshness I can detect with the much increased stiffness . The metal cased bush was actually very easyto remove from the alloy bracket but a vice and a drift the right size would be a good idea but a chisel will remove it easy enough
