Tyre Tread Depths

Can someone remind me of the recommended tread depth differences for Quattros?

I have trashed a tyre and need to source aother s/h as the remaning tyres all have ~4mm on them and I am pretty sure a new one will be exceed the tolerance.

Does it really make that much difference? I would have thought that a modern diff could handle the slight difference in rotational speed.....

Without reading that link I would say that quattro can cope with a difference in diameter of 6-8mm (new 7-8mm - 4mm x 2).

It most likely is to be recommended to change a pair at the same time though.
