Next up was the wrap to the window and roof trims for the black ops look, not the easiest job to do especially the rear window quarters but turned out ok, you need the heat gun to mould the vinyl and then apply heat to it all at the end to 'cure' it and improve the bond, the vinyl I bought matches the window trim rubbers very well,

After a bit of fiddling the ends are wrinkle free.

The B pillar trims carbon wrapped to suit the grill and rear bumper strip shown earlier, I've done the rear window upright as well but don't think I have a pic of them.

I wanted the darker wheels and mirrors to suit, I like the look of standard rims too much to change the style so sourced another set of O.E. rims and found a member on here with some mirror covers for sale with light stone chips. I have used Lepsons for customers cars at the garage and can't recommend them enough, over the years I've tried a good few 'wheel refurbers' 'wheel doctors' bodyshops and powder coaters with varied results but wouldn't use anyone else now, they offer a professional service and are the only refurbed wheels I've had done that come back looking 'as new'

Wheels and mirror covers done in Audi L8AU to make the Audi option of 'Titanium pack'

I've fitted the original unpainted centre caps with the outer & Audi rings in chrome which match the Audi rings on the grill & boot - I was debating whether to do the grill & boot rings black but think if I did go 'dark' I would have them carbon dipped to match the grill etc.

All sealed up with Poorboys should hopefully help keeping them clean. New TPMS valve stems fitted then Mich's back on and balanced using coated Hofmann weights that we use at the garage on customers cars with decent rims not the uncoated cheap looking ones that most tyre shops use and end up a rusty lump on your rim in no time!

Given the brake calipers the Poorboys treatemnt to - came up well :)

Looks great!

It looks like it that the mirrors can be removed without removing the door panels (inner)?

Nice work, like the carbon wrap too, a nice sensible option price wise!

Thanks guys, makes posting worthwile :)

You can remove the mirrors without removing the inner door panel the screws are accessible by removing the inner door trim mirror fillet, you need the glass out and the motor before removing the body - they are a little difficult to refit as the mirror body needs to go behind the outer door seal it's best to use some rubber lube :)

No think I'm gonna leave the RS badge and Audi rings front and rear chrome - at least for now

Cheers

The carbon wrap looked a lot better than I thought it would, I bought what I thought was the best quality - 7 year exterior which considering I needed a large roll as I had the grill surround to do was around £50 delivered from memory.

When I bought the car it didn't have sat nav for function this didn't bother me but I do prefer the look of a nav unit in the dash. As I had to purchase a unit I bought the later A3 '193' media button unit able to take the larger SD cards and managed to get a new exterior face as the RS4 dash is more square on the edges (ignore the pictures I had two RS4 fronts one was slightly damaged the A3 one isn't in the picture)

The strip down isn't too bad but not for everyone I would think see below;

I knew fitting my newly acquired Nav unit would have its problems as my car was only fitted from new with the single DIN concert head unit, I hadn't realised initially the climate unit is narrower in a car fitted with Nav as it is lower down in the console and it obviously tapers towards the bottom;

Image

I also needed a cage to suit the double DIN Nav unit, I knew there was the option to trim the edges of the climate unit down to fit but being fussy I wouldn't really have been happy doing that so I sourced another unit - as my car was one owner with 30k I didn't want an old abused unit as some look very tired but luckily the replacement climate unit was mint, the difference in size can be seen below;

To get the cage out means removing the centre console and then modifying it to accept the different size cage by cutting it I used a die grinder for this and very nearly went too far! bit of a rave taking the cage out;

Half way through trimmed up better before finishing but this is hidden anyway.

Finished result;
