Yellow stuff pads are about £200 for a complete set (8 pads.

"Should" be a 10-15 min job, but more and more we here about the corrosion build up under the spring steel end plates, which inturn stops the removal of the pads, as the cars are reaching the age they are this will become a regular thing.... Good luck and hope yours is a 10-15 min success CheeRS
This is true I suppose! Having changed my pads 4 times this year and giving the calipers a quick clean each time I do, I guess for me they pop out easily. But yep. totally agree - those end plates can pinch the pads and make the pad hard to remove (and then re-insert)
Yes the more maintenance you do and each time you change the pads your cleaning and checking so less chance of this happening, the longer you leave them the higher the risk, I would never use some of these aggressive wheel cleaners (containing any acidic chemicals) that say spray/brush on and then hose off, the cleaner get under the clips and corrodes away

My advice is if ever removing the pads yourself check under the steel end plates, if you cannot get the bottom screws out take the tops out bend the plate forward then clean out, protect and refit, then when bolted back in place take a punch and tap it back home job done, stealers probably just charge for fitting new calipers as I cannot see them doing this

I've just ordered a set of EBC Yellow Stuff pads - I'll let you know how I get on.

I think my driving is similar to yours, in terms of occasional "spirited" driving rather than plenty of track abuse - I might even get a new set of front discs to boot.... which reminds me, new topic required! :)

Allow more like an hour a side for pads, the calipers will most likely have corrosion starting under the stainless steel guide plate and be a bugger to get out, genuine pads are best I've found and I've tried ds2500 etc

Best for what? Gentle road use? Maybe. Anything remotely spirited and I disagree completely. There are several much better pad options.

Have you tried genuine pads? I'm not talking made in China pagid <beep> at £80 notes a pop? And no not gentle road driving I've tdi for that,I've found discs last about as long as a set of pads on OE,ds2500 with braided hoses and motul 600 fluid was no different in feel or performance so when back to original for next set,not a fan of ebc stuff over the years on other motors.

Decisions, decisions...I'm after a cheaper, and possibly better alternative to the OEM pads. With sensor wires.

Seems the consensus is to steer clear of Pagid. The EBC Yellow Stuff appear to be race pads (?). I don't track the car and don't plan to. The DS2500 and Ferodo premier pads seem good value for money?

Also, any recommended garages in SE London/Kent who could fit the pads would be really helpful.

The standard OEM pads ARE Pagid, just a total different compound to the £80 crap you can find on ebay.

I made the mistake of buying a set when I changed my front discs and took them off again quickly afterwards for a set of genuine OEM ones.

The difference was night and day between the two, the cheap ones were borderline dangerous!

Generally, with brake pads, you get what you pay for.

The DS2500 pads get good reviews for the money though.

just a heads up the ds2500 are normally priced per axle, so you need to buy two sets. when i bought mine they were a touch over £300 for all 8 pads.
awesome pads though.

Ah, so the same as OEM then.

I bet there have been a few annoyed people when they have opened the box to only find 4 pads!

Anyone tried Pagid Blues?

Thanks for the tip sar. Considering the aim is to replace with something cheaper/better than OEM DS2500 would be a fail!

Sounds like Ferodo Premiers are the way to go. But where to buy them?

And who in the SE/London could fit them?

I can never understand why anyone driving a 150mph plus, 1750 kgs, high performance car would possibly wish to compromise braking performance by sourcing a cheaper ..........anything. It's your - and possibly other people's - lives at stake! Better, yes, but cheaper for the sake of it, no.

Might as well look for a set of Kingpin remoulds to finish the look.

Exactly, brakes and tyres should be the highest priority on a high performance car.
