And finally, so we all know and others who read this forum, not to buy a car in future from the t*t, what dealer is it?

Previously rhymed with Heathley? A known scum-bag type, shady dealer selling terrible cars for (unfortunately sometimes too tempting) low prices and then fighting with everything he/they can find to not admit responsibility for any of it. A dealer so lambasted in forums that they had to change the name of the company to get away from their own dodgy dealing. Avoid.

If not the same lot, still name and shame so everyone on here can see what they're like and know to avoid them too.

Call trading standards, they will tell you to take the car back to the dealer and get a full refund. It's the dealers problem if he took your car as part-ex.

If it was a private sale I think you'd be stuffed, but not if it's a business.

If it is a piston ring that's the culprit (oil control ring is one of the piston rings), then cleaning the engine won't fix it, it needs to be replaced!

The whole terraclean thing is a scam.

That was poor advice about the oil control rings. Always worth checking the rubber ring on the oil filter cap first then check the oil cooler lines and the oil cooler itself. The lines and cooler are a common problem with rs4 and there will be any amount of info about it on here. After that I would be checking the pcv valve but my money would be on the lines or cooler.

Hi mate,

Do not do any repairs, do not touch it, take it back and ask them to make it good or dosh back simple as that, the guys getting irate to frighten you off, your part x is down to him he accepted it. If you keep it, it's going to cost truck loads to put it right

He may need his knees adjusting before parting with your dosh

Sorry to read of your problems blueboy. I'm inclined to think the Trading Standards route is your best bet, but I'd also consult a solicitor first so you know exactly what your rights are and how to approach the dealer/what to say.

Good luck.
