Almost 7 years ownership

7 years ago today I picked up my RS4

and I thought I'd never sell it. However, I ended up having to make a snap decision a week ago and traded it in against a 2013 B8 RS4.
Collecting the B8 should have been exciting but after just over 123,000 miles and a whole lot of memories in the B7 it was pretty hard letting it go

and I've spent most of the week feeling like I've got rid of a family member. Hope it goes to a good home.

Wow. Still looks as good the day you collected it. With a B8 at least you are still in the fold!
7 years ownership is true testament to a great car...

The will it be a future classic poll is not helping me come to terms with my decision though.

i couldnt have an avant, only the b7 looks anything imo
if audi made a saloon RS4 then id consider it, they make every other bloody shape and door variant

+1. I couldn't do avant. Besides, I don't deliver enough bread to warrant the purchase
I suspect there's no RS4 saloon b8 as it would be too narrow a choice between the RS5 and indeed snipe away potential sales...

4 years this November for me. Plan is to keep it for as long as it goes. perhaps add a GT3 to the stable but can't see the point in buying anything else at the mo. Manual, v8, four wheel drive 60/40, 430(ish)bhp it ticks most boxes. To most it's just an ageing a4 but to those who care it's the last of the na ludicrously sized v8 manual super saloons. An was one bit of engineering n all but don't mention the carbon ahem cough....

It infuriates me that in recent times you can by an RS in hatchback, convertible, coupe, fastback, avant, SUV or whatever it is, but no bloody saloon.
My only options are to keep the B7, or make a widebody S6 or S4 (I've been beaten to the widebody S4 already so the V8 twin turbo S6 is looking favourite).

I'm a traditionalist - an RS has to be an Avant.

Nice
I had my B7 for four years, longest I've ever kept a car.
Must admit that B8 does make the B7 look dated.

Looks mint - especially the wheels! Seven and a half years for me, but an embarrassing 100k miles less than you - so at 3k a year (and more like 1k now) it's time to accept that it's no good for either the car or my wallet. Easily my best car ever, but with a company car for in town and virtually no living relatives to visit, trips out of London are too few and far between
I'll miss every inch of it, and can't see me ever needing anything so special (from new at least) again...

Very very nice. I'm tempted to get something newer too but keep thinking it's ok for the meantime. Maybe keep it as a classic [WINKING FACE]
