1 MPH warning light on the M25

On the M25 yesterday going west bound near Reigate through one of the worst traffic jams I've seen for a long time and getting pretty irritated. After about an hour, every time I moved the car, the car bleeped at me and displayed a red circle with line through it and MPH in the middle and a number 1 above it in the driver display.

Having not spent the requisite 6 months in an audi monastry to learn the subtleties of the onboard computer and not having the manual with me I assumed that something must be very serious indeed if the car didn't want me to go above 1mph. Got off at the first opportunity, raised the bonnet, checked the oil..... and then googled the 'fault' on the mobile phone....

Has anyone else been caught out by accidentally setting the utterly pointless user defined upper speed warning system ? :bash: Still don't know how I did it.

I'm loving the car, but I can't fathom why the computer system is so unintuitive. Simple MPG readouts seem to require multiple button presses and a decision about whether I want to use computer 1 or computer 2.

Audi should leave the computer user interface design to someone else I'm thinking.

Roll on the FONs

See page 31 of the manual
You need to press, "Check" to set the speed at the desired limit when moving.
The check button is by the spanner and the odometer button by the petrol gauge.

And press & hold same button to disengage it

IMO the speed limit warnings are potentially very useful - I always had the DIS controlled warning (ie the one you set up through the menu) set at 95mph to give me the "make sure no-one's looking" warning *

But if you don't want the functions, don't use them

* but of course only on tracks officer! :bigblink:
