Alright guys, has any one had the smell of fuel coming from under the inlet manifold? Right side nearest to you if you looking at the engine. I have had the inlet manifold off twice trying to find/fix it. I have checked the pipes an changed all the injector seals an can still smell it. But cant see any wet/damp places once inlet is removed an cant test it obv when inlet is removed.
Any ideas?
Cheers.

It will be the metal fuel rail that the injectors push into they leak as there only spot welded .You can put all the fuel system back on the car with the inlet off and pressurize system up by turning the ignition on without trying to start the car and you will see the damp spots on the rail .I had the same problem hope this helps .

Cheers for the reply mate. I was looking at that thinking it could be that it must be such a small leak it just evaporates do qwick. And when i remove the manifold you loose the pressure from the rails so cant see it.
Ill connect the fuel back up an get some pressure back in it tonight
Cheers.

I can get you the part number of both if rails if you need them as mine is still in bits. I have had the union silver soldered as it only heled in by a few spot welds. Ill get pictures up once done

I had fuel smell for a while and then it was the FSI fuel pump, it is hard to detect and i spotted it by accident when i saw smoke coming out from the bonnet...run a finger around the metal tip and see if any fuel smell from there, also there might be some minor stains on the cam cover.
