seat bolster deflating

Post by DaytonaRs4 » Thu Aug 28, 2014 11:25 am

noticed recently that my drivers seat bolster does not inflate on sport activation, i have checked the DIS menu and they are activated.
if i manually inflate bolsters or lumbar it just deflates after a few seconds.

can anyone recommend the first things to do / check for leaks etc?,

i have tried searching the net/forum and havent found much info

any help appreciated :beerchug:

Be prepared for a long tricky job or a long ugly bill :(

Mine deflate but the cost to get them fixed wasn't worth it.

Thanks for the link and the cost heads up.

Once i have the time i wil try and source the leak. Im guessing both SOV's would not go at same time so possibly another issue for me.

Hopefully wont turn out too expensive. :audibash:

I think the leaky valves are about £160 each and there are 2 per seat so about £520 just for parts. I'd replace mine but apparently then new ones leak in a year or so too so not worth the pain or cost if you ask me.

I had all mine replaced under warranty - the bill would have been fairly horrific otherwise! There might even be 3 valves per seat ? but yes not a cheap or quick thing to fix

How long ago said you have them repaired and do they still work ok?

They are so bad that didn't one warranty company refuse to fix them after they failed several times?

I've had mine replaced over two years ago and they're still working fine.

Really? I recall reading on here that someone replaced theirs and it failed again soon after. I thought it was maybe you nij? Were you the one that stripped the valve down to see if it was repairable? If yours are still working after 2 year then I will change mine. I've still got to strip the drivers seat to finish wrapping the seat back so I can change the valves at the same time.
does anyone know the part numbers? Pretty sure I've seen them on here before so will have a search when I'm on a proper pc later.

Yeah, it was me who stripped the valve down.

There was also a leak in one of the air bags, which was found by the trimmer. Everything is working fine now.

Can't help you with the part number at the moment as I'm in sunny California, plenty of nice sounding V8s.

I found the old thread that discussd this then just realised Sam linked to it alreayd right at the top!

Anyway the part number if anyone is interested is (taken from the other thread):
8E0 959 267

The part number is the same for all valves. There are 2 in each seat; one for the thigh and chest supports and one for the lumber supports.
