Quick update...

After taking it to my local Audi specialist they diagnosed a snapped intake manifold flap linkage on bank 2 as suspected. I was told the only way to fix the problem was to replace the intake manifold at a cost of £1,975 + the labour to do the work

Anyway, I randomly met a guy in the boozer that night and we got talking about cars and the problem i had. It turned out he was a mechanic and knew exactly what i was talking about and seemed to think he could fix it as he had done the same on some Audi diesels before. I was a little bit dubious to start with but in hindsight there was no reason to be! He said that he knew a company that makes replacement linkages out of aluminium instead the the cheap plastic that Audi use. I asked him to look into whether or not he could do the same to mine and after a day or two he got back to me and said that he could, and to drop the car down to him. Game on!!

He got the parts from a company called 034 Motorsport. Total cost for the linkages was £213.00 (both banks) 8) It cost a little bit more for labour and gaskets etc but much better than the cost of a new manifold. Whilst the manifold was off he cleaned up the flaps as well so got a mini carbon clean thrown in! The valves etc needed a proper clean but i will leave that to MRC in the coming weeks! Also got him to fit my rear discs and pads while it was with him.

Got the car back last Friday and all seems to be back to normal. No more dreaded EPC/Engine light!

Did anyone know about this company or if this was possible? I havnt seen anything on here before about replacing the linkages. I asked 3 or 4 different companies about how to fix the problem but they all said it a new manifold job.

Hopefully this will help someone else out if they hit the same problem :)

Cheers,

Neil
