I think you need your attitude recalibrating :bash:
If you think I'm going to risk my life just to prove you wrong you really are a tw4t.
The speedo showed 190 MPH and that's it. I don't need anyones confirmation, let alone yours.
Crazy to think I couldn't get it above 193 with 600 odd horsepower!!

I am told by Doug that the gearbox is the liming factor not the horsepower

194mph is the theoretical maximum speed at 8000rpm, on 255/35/19 tyres on a standard gearbox. That would show 200mph on the speedo.

And I don't believe any car without boost would get there IMO, but stand to be proven wrong.

Cov, do you run 20" wheels? would that make any difference?

depends on the exact tyre specifications. For example a 255/35/19 is pretty much identical in diameter to a 255/30/20 (within 0.02% iirc)
If you went with a wider profile (say 265/30/20) then the speedo would actually under-read.

To add some perspective, a B8 Rs4 is slightly more powerful than most B7 RS4's, and arguably has better gearing for top speed with 7 gears, but a slightly lower COD.
At Vmax last June, mine did an indicated 169mph, which on my GPS and the radar gun used at the event was an actual 163mph. Given a slightly better surface and a more favourable wind condition, it would possibly go on to around an indicated 175ish at very most (given there was no top speed limiter), which would be around 168-9mph true speed

I can't see a healthy B7 being too much different to that, but am prepared to stand corrected

I've done 178 on GPS (185 indicated). Don't forget the VMAX event really doesn't have the length to get up to speed as a B7 would need 3 miles+ to get to 180 (not actually calculated that, but best guess!). Certainly wouldn't max out at Bruntingthorpe unfortunately.

I did see just over 180 on the speedo and it has a fraction left but it is depending on wind direction I think as on the way back it wouldnt go over 170 - will post up the vid this eve if anyone is interested, no speedo footage but just from the dash?

Yes but with the correct tyres that run the same rolling radius as standard.

I'll argue ;)
7th is so long you will never get near topping it out.

You might be right there as I was thinking a better spread through the first 6, but thinking about it, 7th is circa 30mph/1000, so 8k is 240mph - an ambitious number with even the strongest tailwind :)

Not maxed out, but nearly. The clock showed 188mph but ran out of clear road ahead and could not risk overtaking just in case someone pulled out.
Thank Germany for unrestricted autobahns, the last bastion for Speed Matters !
Roll on B7's !!
