Cabrio roof mechanism: maintenance?

Post by JohnFC » Wed Aug 20, 2014 11:28 pm

Does anyone here know if there is a recommended lubricant/application for the roof linkages and pivots? I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere and I don't think it's part of the Audi service schedule. Might be wrong though.

Never heard of anything myself, would have thought Audi would have tried to push something to me in the last 6 years
Are you asking because of a problem with the hood or just curious

I had a problem last year with the roof operating slowly and eventually stopping at a certain point so had the pump motor refurbed (£100) guy who did it said everything else was fine and didn't mention lubing anything.

No problem as yet but I believe all mechanical pivots should be lubricated to avoid overloading their drive mechanisms. Puzzled that this aspect of a complicated roof system is not mentioned anywhere!
