The pipes corrode awfully quickly though. My brake pipes are still in great condition yet my DRC pipes had to be changed a year ago. Don't get me wrong though, I agree with you as I spent more fixing my DRC and lowering it than it would have cost to bin it and fit coilovers, I'm just merely pointing out that changing to the new type shocks is not the end of your DRC woes.

How much did your pipes cost to replace Mike and did it include the shock hoses too?

From memory I think I paid about £2100 to have 3 shocks and pipes replaced, lowering springs fitted (but not the parts as I bought them beforehand), and all new suspension arms. I can dig out the paperwork later if you are interested.

I think the shock hoses are the pipes I referred to (I could be wrong though).

+1. Camberley mentioned the same when I had mine done. V3 has incredible low failure rate...
Agreed. My DRC V'3 units have been on for 4 years and 25k miles and not had any problems as all originals were replaced at the same time. Replacing one or two is a false economy and early original ones are just a ticking time bomb.

I think my shocks were just under 200 each (so 192 sounds right) but I think that was before vat and fitting.

You're quite right. £204 for shock, £110 for a pipe to it. Then £18 for a bumpstop and £25 in oil.

£104 in labour to replace.

All plus VAT of course.

I had a shock fail 10 miles from home (high speed swerve to avoid making two tossers walking on an unlit dual carriageway into pulp) and the accumulator also failed, so the accumulator/valve block can be easily damaged.

Interesting. I drove mine knocking for 300+ miles and it was fine. Needed a new bump stop because fluid level was so low was riding on it but accumulator survived to fight another day.

Just goes to show it's all luck I guess!
