Servicing Questions

Hi Guys,

Hoping to get some information from you guys. So blueberry beast is due for a service (mileage is 46.5k). One of the things that is mentioned a lot is supply your own oil if Audi allow, so I will be doing that.

So I am planning an oil & filter change, also spark plugs. Is there anything else you guys recommend I get done whilst its in for a service?

Also have the intermittent EPC light :FIREdevil: and have it booked in with one of the Indies but that will be getting done early next month but the service is due kind of now.
I should be ok to tell Audi to ignore the EPC light and carry out the regular service? I know a weird question :?

Thanks in advance gents.

Try and supply the plugs also, Southend Audi let me do this with no issue. You can get a whole set off ebay for around £75 I think it is.

Audi charge something like £14 a plug +vat

Additional service items to consider at that millage/age:
  • Aircon drain & re-charge - Audi have £79 offer on at the moment
    Fuel Filter
    Brake Fluid (every 3 years)
    Coolant (every 3-4 years)
    Diff & Gearbox oil
Whilst you could ask them to ignore the EPC light, they may refuse to test drive the car after any service work has been carried out. If it's going into a dealer then why not get them to at least check for any logged fault codes; it could be a coil pack and there was a recall for those. If it isn't, then at least you have some information to work with.

Ignoring warning lights is not good, they happen for a reason and don’t just go away.

Hi there,

To be honest your best bet would be finding the fault before going for the service, if you can find someone in your area with VCD's have a look it may well just clear down or if it's a fault that is not to costly you can decide stealer or Indie?

What about Air filter?

Also Id be interested what price your quoted.

Southampton quoted me £740 for oil, plug and pollen service.

Audi are also offering a price match within a 15 mile radius of the dealership:

That is good, I got a price from a local VAG specialist and it was about £420 but the offer only goes till end of Sept and I don't think my service needs doing until after then.

Thanks for the replies,

Eurocarparts has the Bosch double platinum's on offer @ just under £8 each.Oil is at £33 for 4 ltrs.

The brake fluid, diff, gearbox oil were done 1.5 years ago. Will do them in another 6months.

Just had the EPC light come on two days ago, I had it booked in for a carbon clean prior to the EPC light coming on. So was going to get it checked out at the same time. I don't have the VCDS and would like to know the errors but with my work schedule struggling to find time.

I am located in Maidenhead, and got quoted £450 from Slough Audi with me supplying oil and spark plugs but this was in 2nd week of September.
So phoned West London Audi and they can do earlier and have quoted me £375 for major service with them supplying everything, This seems a bit low??

I would like to take it to a specialist like MRC/AMD but would prefer to have the FASH due to the mileage.

Is there anyone in the Maidenhead/Marlow area with VCDS that would not mind sparing some time for a quick scan for error codes? plus being new to the area would be nice to meet someone from on here.

Just had my 'anal' service by Leeds Audi as well as MOT.

I supplied my own oil and the total bill from Audi was £295.

They are well aware I'm a huge enthusiast and set my expectations with them the first time I took the car there.

I always request to see the same employee who's a cracking fella and with a passing comment every year of 'still the cleanest RS4 we've seen in years' I left yesterday with a free gift of an Audi exclusive Keyring too.

Can't fault them at the moment - even the parts department give me 15% discount every time I go in there.

Southend Audi changed me £289 to do the service and plug change, that was with me supplying everything.

Got the MOT done the other week and they only charged me £30.

Bloody hell that's good. Hitchin Audi charged me £550 or something (from memory) for a full service (inc plugs), with me supplying all the parts. :(
