If anyone is interested in what a basic valve clean can do, just been sent these by Mastertech of Poole of the clean they did for me last week. This was an extended soak of the ports with a solvent (overnight) and then manually cleaning the ports and valves with a cloth. Cost was in the £350 region They said there was about 2mm of carbon build up. The car has done 60,000 miles. The results are noticeable on the butt-dyno. Obviously not as clean as it is possible to get, but I thought it was pretty good value for the price.

Looks good.

I've never thought to ask this before: what's that plate across the middle? I always thought it was the manifold flap but I'm not so sure now.
