I am currently with Churchill. I had a new exhaust and remap on my insignia around 6 months ago and advised them at the time. Added it to my policy for free so I was very happy. Got the renewal yesterday And its gone up £700 from last years price, so can only assume its this that's caused it. Did a few online comparisons using go compare and the like for the rs4 and just adding exhaust mod it jumps from £400 to around £800

the RS sounds pretty good as standard but awesome with a new system - I have Milltek but some of the others like JC Weldfab and EB Werks sound incredible. you need! ;-)

Thanks guys very helpful. Some of the cars I'm looking at already have milltek systems which is why I'm looking at prices. Would have to see how loud they are as don't want anything to loud with it being a daily car and the family car as well. Current one that interests me has milltek valved non-res but not sure if that will be too loud. Need to go see it soon I think !!

yeah go see it and have a drive I guess and compare to a standard one if you can. depends what you class as loud really, the non res is pretty loud, mine has no valves so not sure what difference they make.

I had mine tested when I got it (miltek non-res valved) at 1m at 45 degree angle.
At 4.5k rpm it was 89db valves closed and 98db valves open.

Thanks very interesting thanks. Would be good to see the same figures for a stock exhaust, but good to know it's a bit quieter with the valves closed, which I assume is linked to the sport button?

There's a FAQ for that:
viewtopic.php?t=93014

I think the stock exhaust is 78db based on the V5/Type approval stuff?
As far as human hearing is concerned, figure about 10db as being twice as loud.

That's before you get to the exhaust back firing with pops and bangs on downshifts ;)

Thanks again, something else to check when looking at any new car, checking if the valves work correctly.

Random question I know but does anyone know anything about redbank motors in Rochdale? I don't and I'm not sure if I can trust the dealer, not reviews around and email addresses are gmail etc

Had mine noise tested couple of times at Goodwood last year before and after getting the Milly fitted. Standard 89db (i had disconnected the valves) at 6k revs and the Milltek was 102db (again no valves) at 6k - that was annoying as the limit was 98db haha
