Rs4 b7 white smoke

Post by Big Mac » Wed Aug 13, 2014 12:42 pm

I have recently bought a B7 RS4 with 64k on the clock. Occasionally I get a bit of white smoke out of the exhaust on start up then it vanishes. I'm not losing coolant and the engine oil looks and smells fine. It's going down to AMD for a decoke, remap and new miltek next week. Has anyone any idea what might be causing the smoke. Thanks

They do tend to smoke a little on start up,why AMD? Pay more and get a better job done at MRC

Yes as Riv says, they do smoke on start more so if revved before properly warmed up, at 64k your due a decoke as you say, if after the decoke and letting it warm up it still smokes then I'd worry

Can happen if oil is too old or overfilled. Or if the oil seperator is screwed

Thanks guys for your replies. I'll check how it is after the decoke and remap. As for why AMD, those guys have done a lot for me with all my cars, more so my 400bhp vw r32. They are only 60 miles away so logistically it's easier for me too. I tend to get sound advice from Shaun and his team and they won't let me spend money for the sake of their profits.

AMD's map is crap tbh, don't like to slag them off, but I know too many people with the rs4's who have been let down by them, the extra journey and money is worth it with this particular car as MRC know their stuff, people don't just bang on about them for fun, your choice

Mine was smoking a bit after it came back from MRC after a stage 2 and a decoke a few months ago, it is now back up there for some other bits they changed the oil breather and a few other minor bits and a flush, they have phoned yesterday to say it's all done and no smoke!

They are costly but appear to be trust worthy and above all know their stuff.
