looking for a rs4,then be patient

Post by geordie jay » Fri Aug 08, 2014 11:57 am

hi guys,as some of you might know im looking for a rs4 b7. so for the past 1 month i been surfing the web looking for the right one and also test driving etc,and with the known problems that come with the rs4 theres one thing i learnt, never jump into buying one straight away without looking at a few first..theres some right dogs out there and they being sold by dealers promising you this and that and all they want is your hard earned cash..when asking about,do you know cars history they reply..yes full audi history lol.....no i say do you know the cars history,,like the drc probs and seat bolster etc etc...spoke to a chap from glasgow this morning who was a dealer and he didnt even have a clue what i was on about lol. so as i been told from people on this forum..better off buying from a enthuiast from here is excellent advice.and i would even go as far as to say buy privataly coz the individual wil probably know the history, and as far as you do your checks on the car before buying i think its better than buying from dealer..so im still looking and i got no time scale and in no hurry..but i know when it comes along there will be a big grin on my chops for a while :jump: :biggrin3: :biggrin3: :biggrin3:

A while? More like a very long while...

I still have a big grin every time I drive my RS4, and I've owned it from new in July 2006 (over 8 years)

It took me 4 moths solid to find one. I saw dog after dog and a few good ones - holding tight on my criteria paid off. 2 day journey to Barrow in Furness mind but well worth it...

Possibly the ultimate RS4 - not sure of your budget though...

Really??

33k is way OTT and there is definitely a load of sales guff going on in that advert IMHO.

Plush interior and TTS suprecharger? Has to count for more £'s. Most charged RS4's I've seen are 30K+...

Neil, my memory might be skewed a little by the consumption of some Merlot :beerchug: but if the grey matter is correct then the recent silver/blue wrapped one was £27k before being moved on and advertised at a dealer. Prior to that there was a Sepang Blue example which if I recall correctly was sub 30k as well.

Then there is the way the advert is written. If no expense has been spared, then why are the wheels curbed, parking sensor works intermittently and the door handle rattles? Meh...perhaps I should just go to bed :drink:

AH yes, the silver/blue wrap and Sepang Blue was 29K - on the contrary, maybe I should go to bed :drink:

Evans halshaw in Livingston have a red one with 60k on it, I've not went and looked yet and the pictures are crap, worth a glance maybe!!

I know from a friend who works for EH that the car cost them £15,500 so a deal is there to be had, I might go looking next week
