Advice - 100k+ RS4 Advant? Would you

Hi Guys

Newbie here, I wanted to ask the forum experience on whether a RS4 i have been offered is a good deal or not?

Link to the advert below, from my research it does not have nav, the steering wheel or buckets so not good in many peoples view.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/ ... iment=true

Am looking at a straight swap for my Audi A6 Advant S-Line Special Edition (all options), 11 plate 170 Tdi with 46k on the clock....worth about 16/17k

Good deal or bad .... is a high mile rs4 with poor spec and big issue.... am not fussed about the "must haves" but you have to be realistic

I've just bought a VW T5.1 California as a family hack , so the RS4 will be light use as ... buying a sports car these days with a family is a waste of time so it would be an ideal little weekend toy for me :) (Mini Cooper SD as a around town hack as well/work horse)

Thanks in advance, any advice greatly appericated

Paza

Hi there,

Some say 100k give it a miss, otheres will say 100k whats the problem?

Depends what you intend to do with the car?

The seats are a personal thing, I prefer the comfort seats and less desirable to being stolen

The nav stestem yes good option but 3/4 didit post code, whereas an Iphone is just as good

The 1 owner thing I think is very positive and if the guy is genuine, he will tell you its history

If he spent 7k in 12 months his heart must have been in it,

Having the disks and pads, DRC, decoke are all things that would need doing at some stage on any car, so no need to worry

Check it over for damage, or take some one with you to check it over

If you get it for 16k and it is genuine and you intend to keep and love it and improve on things then the 100k is only relevant to you

If its a genuine car at 16k I would have it.....Richard

Good luck

I

Thanks for the advice , it looks ideal for a keeper for a few years , and we have an agreed deal do it seemed like a fair deal all-round , i just wanted to check with the forum guru's as the advice is invaluable ..... I be on here as a regular poster if it al comes off :)

The price seems about right? and I could always retro fit the sat nav. I guess? less fussed about steering wheel/seats .... history and condition are the most important tbf

Cheers Paza

Spec is really subjective mate. So it's really down to you. Some prefer the buckets, some don't. I've had both seats and they are all great in different ways. If you had a bad back you'd absolutely hate the buckets though.

Craig Barnes will retrofit the RNS-E Nav for £500 - I have his number somewhere, Chester based I think.

Prepare yourself for some major bills - not just brakes and decoke. Everything is more tired. I have An rs4 with 120k on it that others probably wouldn't touch. But now it's sorted by mrc it's like a new car :)

i would be more concerned mate about when you come to sell it..with even more miles on the clock how much of a big hit are you gunna take..and with the rs4 not being the cheapest car to run like whats been said wear and tear will kick in with those miles, might be a tin of worms or on the other hand could be a good deal, all i would say is make sure you got money behind you when car is bought..good luck fella

I've never understood this logic. You're paying less for the car so (percentage wise) your "big hit" is going to be the same. Unles you do much less than average miles (like I plan) so it works out that after X years, the mileage has balanced back out again. Then you're actually "better off".

+1. Besides, in 3-4 years time, in my opinion the B7 RS4 (and other RS's for that matter of this age) will level much more in price and if anything, well sorted examples (miles aside) will still be desirable - I think the price will plateau even more and in many ways become more of an iconic car and the fact there's not that many now, a few more years will bolster the market values further...

The link just goes to all RS4s on pistonheads now and I can't see one fitting your description. Did you buy it??

Buy the best condition car you can afford regardless of mileage, plenty of low mileage dogs out there!

My one was a 2 owner, 92000 miler when I bought it nearly 4 years ago. It was painted a colour that was not even in my top 3, the interior hue looked 'interesting' in the online pictures and it was (for me at the time) fitted with the wrong front seats.

But I bought it anyway because it was immaculate, looked stunning inside and out when viewed in person and had full Audi service history as well as a pile of other receipts which showed it had been cherished.

You can always change things out that you don't like at a later date.

It was also the first one I had went to see........... :bash:
