I just caught up with the last 4 pages of this thread. Unbelievably bad quality stuff, I am worried now as I have parts shipping out tomorrow. I'm sorry you have had to go through this.

Argon emailed requesting we settle this without it having to go further, which is all I ever wanted to do...

I replied again requesting a full refund of the two main faulty parts (the bottle cover and rain tray). I would make the parts available for collection. In exchange, I offered to post here to say that we had settled the situation amicably. I received an email back yesterday saying they were going to refund for the two parts in full and would arrange collection shortly.

So, when I have received the refund and posted the parts back I'll let you guys know. But at least it's progress and I can put it all behind me :)

Glad to hear it Ross. Very happy for you buddy I guess getting it off of your chest on here has not only helped you feel better but maybe given them the impetus to deal fairly with you too or lose a potentially huge pool of customers.

I was going to say my carbon badges and rings still look good, they can make some good products, I think it makes sense they stop producing engine parts, as they obviously aren't up to the job

That's great news, Ross, can't help but think this thread added some persuasion and I guess you didn't reall have to do this dance to get a result - but the result sounds favourable so well done :beerchug:

Just read all of this and I must say Im shocked at the type of work that has gone into these pieces.

I deal with/work with carbon on a daily basis and I can tell you that the issue here is this:
1. Wrong resin is used (heat resistant epoxy must be used where temps are higher than 25-30deg, correct epoxy will stand upto 160deg).
2. Bad/cheap quality consumables (cheap fiber, cheap resin, cheap clear coat)
3. Bad prep work (this causes parts to delaminate)
4. Rushed work, bubbles and parts pulling scew is a direct spinoff when you rush it. The resin needs to set properly and can take upto 7 days (depending on tech specs of the resin).
5. Wet lay, this is the worst way of doing any carbon work. I sometimes do it, but only if the client request it. (cheaper doing it that way as no need for makign moulds or tooling). Pre-preg is the way to go, or vacuum infusion process. The intial layout is a bit more expensive, however once you are setup correctly you will save allot of money and time.

I am rather shocked at the prices they are charging, especially for wet lay! These type of prices you should be looking at pre-preg and vacuum infusion. They would benefit from these production process as it cuts labour time and materials with atleast 50%. The quality will then also speak for itself....

It does, however its a bit of double meaning. My company in Cape Town, South Africa does carbon cleaning on direct injection vehicles also.
