Rattle behind pass seat

Post by KGRS4 » Thu Jul 17, 2014 2:23 pm

Hi folks,

I have this annoying rattle in the passenger seat and no it's not a snake.

I've gotten this far and have stopped. Has any one taken the backs of the seats off before in situ? Or can it be done?

Thanks

I had a similar problem with my old b7, I spray siliconed the side adjustment of the seat, and took the back of the seat off and applied a felt like tape to stop any rubbing, this worked!!
I say I did it my mechanic sorted this when it was in for some other work, so can't help with what to do to take the back of the seat apart

I think the seat back is the load bearing member. To get to the bits inside you need to remove the leather covers.

not what I wanted to hear, there's very little write up on these seats don't think many people have done them before. Might as well put it back together and leave it lol

yep the seat back is the complete load bearing part of the seat. to get to the guts you need to go in from the front, peel off the leather and remove the foam.

It's sounding more hassle than it's worth now to be honest. Sounds like it's getting left alone.

its not that bad, but the ones i have stripped have been removed from the car. im not sure what could be rattling, everything is packed pretty tight.

If the horizontal rod in 3rd pic is used to adjust the seat back then the rattling is coming from above all these electrical bits probably something just out of shot. Do you do these seats often?

Coming to think of it I think mine was just a side panel to the seat :bash:

The edge of the leather is very easy to get on and off. The hardest bit is removing the seat belt hoops without breaking them.

I have a rattle, found it eventually, was only when I had a passenger....

...was the seat belt stalk bit on seat, where the buckle goes into. still not fixed it tho.

Does it on my A6 daily also !!

Very common Audi problem, the fabric buffer wears away or compresses and needs replacing.
