sakimano wrote:Funny, it's so minor. People cut holes in their FIREWALL to route reservoir lines for their coilovers. If you're iffy about using an angle grinder to cut an inch of superfluous metal off the car, you're not likely to get a catback exhaust never mind a a supercharger.
Most of us have catbacks and I'm sure didn't cut anything in doing so.

No metals were harmed in this post.

All you do is connect to their server and flash the file they have put there for you, yourself.

They also do this with their NA tune/map. That would be good for you UK/EUR guys. A friend did it on his car at my house because I have one of the JHM flash cables . Took about 45 minutes all in.

Timster wrote:This installation starting to look a lot more involved than I’d first imagined. Trimming the sub-frame / bodywork to make it fit ...and welding etc.. really ?

Awesome effort though, for doing it.
id say involved is a fair description but that is the nature of working in an rs4 engine bay, there is seriously no spare room.
but to be fair this is a supercharger conversion not swapping in some led interior lights ect.

yep there is a bit of trimming needed here and there but no the welding is not required, i chose to do that just because i could.

MB2 wrote:When have you ever bought a "bolt-on" part that simply bolted on ? Do agree that it is easy to be lulled into the "its a comprehensive kit" and underestimate the degree of mechanical skill expected of the installer.
while this is technically a bolt on kit, it is quite involved. jhm are not advertising this kit at all at the moment but when they do i doubt they will be describing it as a "bolt on" couple of hour job you can do on your drive way. :bigblink:
maybe more bolt on and grind off lol.

Rick_RS4 wrote:So jhm say just cut the bodywork and flap it back? That's a bit poor.

However what you have done is awesome
yep thats what they recommend, but to be fair its never going to be seen and as long as any bare metal is protected i cant see any issues with it.

neilparf wrote:I was quite surprised at this - cut and fold?

If you don't have sar's skills and equipment you kind of need to get that in or use your RS4 to 'practice' on. Yes, bolt-on means just that...
the cut and fold is what it is, it has to be done for clearance there is no way round it. but anyone who has the confidence to take on this installation (its not really hard just a chew) i cant imagine would find the cuts that hard of a job. if you can use a angle grinder a sealer gun and a touch up brush your good to go. :bigblink:
