Knobs

Or 'shifters' to our folks across the pond.

Anyway my question is - does anyone know if the B8 gear knob fits the B7 shaft? I'm not worried about gator fitment as a little DIY should sort that out.

I'm quite interested in the below Exclusive version which should tie in nicely with my minor interior re-freshment.

I had Argon Creative take my existing knob, and the ball was done in carbon, and face in black, with red lettering.... was ~ 85 ($120) and I was VERY VERY happy with the results (new knobs are ~$400 anyway)

A few words of advice on the know...

- Be VERY careful while removing it, as there are 4 prongs on the stem that can easy be damaged.
- When replacing the know, I found it was much better to secure the knob with a hose clamp (you have another name for it), under the shifter boot, so that the know does not spin.

BTW.. The picture does not do the know justice... as the red numbering is a perfect match for the red dash lights.. and the carbon knob is perfectly polished... hard to beat that! :bigblink:

Thanks guys, the carbon look is not my thing hence trying to find a nice OEM solution.

Today I've removed the Gear Knob from the Q5 and tried that on the RS and it fits fine; the shaft on both is 12mm diameter and the same height. I think as the Q5 is based on the B8 platform both A4 and Q5 ones should fit fine. Obviously the gator shape is slightly different but that is just stapled to the plastic frame, I reckon that the B7 frame should just about fit in the B8 gator.

Next up is to try the indicator and wiper stalks for another idea I have :D

Gotta say I did fancy the Argon carbon knob and handbrake but now I'm seeing that B8 knob... OEM+ is always the main goal.

Sam, you can separate the know from the gaitor if you want so you can use the B8 know with the B7 gaitor.

Thanks Mike, that's plan B should plan A not work out.

I was hoping to utilise the B8 Exclusive gaiter as the stitching will then tie in/match with stitching on the R8/TTRS wheel that I now have sitting here. Not going to be cheap though I think.
