massive power loss :(

Post by DaytonaRs4 » Mon May 19, 2014 2:55 pm

i knew i was down a bit on power, so before car went in for carbon clean today i wanted to get it on the dyno to see how much carbon and vac leaks was robbing me....friday saw a trip to ecotune glasgow for power run...WOW 310hp / 285lb/ft????.... :audibash:

Image

Image

cars now in at Autohaus Edinburghh for a bit of work....both guys there are ex audi RS tech's and a trip there a few weeks back gave me enough confidence to book in with them..
Work getting done:
full Carbon clean, deflapped manifold, vacuum check and engine healthcheck, g/box diff oil change, oil and filter, brake fluid change, p/s fluid change, fuel and pollen filter, fit rear discs and pads, alignment check....

Image

will be going back to the dyno after full custom exhaust and racecats gets fitted next week :)

That's carbon and potential Vac leaks for you! :audibash:

Your'e doing the right thing and that's pretty much what I did when I first got my car. I did a complete fluid (G/box, brake etc.) change and it felt a good deal better. Carbon clean, de-flap etc. Any vac leaks and a clean once sorted will give you a clean sheet and once all complete go and get the MRC Stage 2 map - it'll fly then!

Let's know how you get on! :beerchug:

That'll be like a new car when you get that back. We had another member on here who had 311 on the RR he car was definatley sick - one he had it sorted I think it went up well over 100BHP [that was stage 2 tune plus exhaust ETC though] so you can look forward to a new car feeling once the work is done!

mine went from 344 to 431 after decoke and mrc stage 2, and that made a hell of a difference believe me ha!

Keen to see what Autohaus manage to do with the decoke, they're a lot handier to get down to than MRC.

im not trying to sound like Arthur here but 100+ bhp from carbon buildup? thats got to be bad.

was it dynod in the correct gear, loading right etc?

also the figures above from MRC i know are top blokes when it comes to audis but whats stopping them upping the load on the first run, doing the clean, then rollering it on normal load to get customer happy figures,

a carbon clean will make the engine alot smoother and felt freer revving , well it did for me

im not trying to flame anyone or thing here its just observations

That's not purely carbon build up there's a vac leak happening there. Think that's a bit strong suggesting Mrc loading up the dyno

Rick, sorry slightly miss leading - my before and after figures weren't just carbon clean, the stage 2 map helped the after figure considerably...

And my before and after has the stage 2 map figured in to the after figure. No vac leak beforehand mind you...

My car was 330 before and 435 after. Car was remapped before the decoke/vac fix. Decoke and vac fix replaced a missing 105bhp.

Can really make a huge difference.

yeah sorry i worded it incorrectly, i meant like different users doing before and after, also different temps etc, but 100bhp increase is awesome , my last rr was 394 without carbon clean, so hoping for a bit more this time round now its cleaned
