B5 Spring Perch Mod (additional info required please)

Hi guys, just after a bit of additional info on this if I may.

I've purchased a pair of B5 spring perches for a touch of additional lowering up front but have a query re the rubber the spring 'should' sit on.

For those that don't know of this mod, the B5 spring perch sits approximately 15mm lower that the B7.

On a B6 and B7 the plate has a rubber plate bonded to it that the spring sits on to protect the seat and spring.

After searching several sites and reading the write-ups no one mentions this piece of rubber. I'm just not sure about running it without it.

Here's a pic of the difference between the two:

On a B5 it comes separately if you order it - I would have thought that this was pretty important to protect both the spring and spring perch plus give some additional cushioning.

However adding it I guess will lift the spring higher a defeat the object of the modification - can anyone clarify or advise please?

Many thanks
James

I fitted some a few months ago.
I re-used the rubber isolators. You will have to trim the 2 rubber tabs at the back so it sits as flat as possible in the perch. You pretty much need to cut those tabs off.
Spring still locates fine and won’t move when spring is fitted.
For the first one it’s just a case of trimming, fitting to the perch then cut some more if required.

Dropped the front around 15mm, so levels the look of the car out.
