Replacing exhaust flexis

Post by webster444 » Sat Mar 15, 2014 10:54 pm

Both my exhaust flexis between the cats are damaged right through and now leaking. With MOT time coming up I will need to replace them.

Anyone know where is best to buy the replacement flexis?

What grade of steel is the exhaust so I know what filler wire to get for my mig?

Ta much

Instead of putting new flexis back on why not weld in stainless steel pipes hence no corrosion ever again and better air flow!!!

Id prefer to stick flexis in again so I dont have any potential vibration related cracks forming

i had mine checked at a local (ish) exhaust specialist, he was going to charge £150 all in to replace both but he was good enough to be honest and said although slightly scuffed/damaged they weren't leaking so he said not to bother :)

Not sure on the dimensions of them, 2.5" diameter is all I know at the moment. Im offshore at the moment so will have to have a look when I get home.

Mine are definitely holed right through so will fail an MOT.

Anyone know what grade of stainless welding wire is all right to use to a varied range of stainless grades?
