Suspension Issues

Just got the car back from it's MOT with an advisory note!
Upper front suspension has slight play in Track Control Arm Inner bush on both sides.
The stealer has quoted me £842 for both arms..........!
Anyone got any idea if the bushes can be changed out or are there better options than paying the stealers price.

try Jason at http://www.allgermanparts.co.uk/product ... ath=64_154

i have just ordered Meyle HD arms from him, great guy to deal with and offers good advice / comparison, i chose meyle over OEm spec lemforder as the meyle arms have a 4 year no quibble warranty as opposed to lemforders 2 year warranty.

This looks a great option. I'm in need myself and this has saved me from a small raping at the stealers. Thanks!

Check the part numbers of the arms before buying or give them your chassis number and ask them to double check compatibility
Although some of the arms look the same, the RS4 has a few arms that are different than a STD A4 -

These are the correct numbers - The Specific RS ones are Special order only from Lemforder ZF Germany nobody else makes them
I think two of the arms and the roll bar links are the same as a STD A4

N/S Front Upper Arm Audi 8E0407505Q / 8E0407505E
O/S Front Upper Arm Audi 8E0407506Q / 8E0407506E
N/S Rear Upper Arm Audi 8E0407509Q / 8E0407509E
O/S Rear Upper Arm Audi 8E0407510Q / 8E0407510E
N/S (Lower Rear) Suspenion Link (The Bent One) Audi 8E0407693AL
O/S (Lower) Suspension Link (The Bent One) Audi 8E0407694AL
N/S & O/S Track control arms (Lower Wishbone link - Straight ) these are the same on both sides Audi 8E0407151N

Hi Roy,

You are correct RS4 has the Q number at the end of the OEM part number.

1 x 8E0407505P "rs4 Q" Front Upper Left Control Arm --MEYLE-number: 116 050 8297/HD
1 x 8E0407506P "rs4 Q" Front Upper Right Control Arm --MEYLE-number: 116 050 8298/HD
1 x 8E0407509P "rs4 Q" Rear Upper Left Control Arm --MEYLE-number: 116 050 8292/HD
1 x 8E0407510P "rs4 Q" Rear Upper Right Control Arm --MEYLE-number: 116 050 8293/HD

However, the kit from Meyle takes this into account.

I've taken 1 example of the OEM part number 8E0407505P or 8E0407505Q (Front upper left control arm) the kit is listed with 8E0407505P but Meyle confirms that this is still valid for RS4 B7 model.

Go to : http://www.meyle.com/EN/Automotive-spare-parts.html

Enter: 8E0407505P

or

http://www.meyle.com/EN/Spare-parts/Sea ... rchFilter=

This will show Meyle part number: MEYLE-number: 116 050 8297/HD

Now on the same website change the part number to 8E0407505Q

or

http://www.meyle.com/EN/Spare-parts/Sea ... rchFilter=

Which will show Meyle Part number as same: MEYLE-number: 116 050 8297/HD

Also if you click on More Product Information (should pop up another window, IE sometimes don't work, use Chrome etc)

or

http://opc.meyle.com/opc/productDetails ... +8297%2FHD

On Page 1 the Q part number is listed. For example mine, RS4 B7 2006 Saloon model is listed on page 7 (Audi A4 - (8EC, B7) RS4 Quattro, 09/05 - 06/08 (Year) 420HP 4163ccm

As per Meyle description and support this kit is guaranteed to fit b7, with power, and weight distribution.

Looks like they over engineered it and made it universal.

So if you repeat for all the other 4 part numbers with P you still see its Q compatible.

As per Audi you are correct, 8E0407505P is for A4 model. As far as I know even the OEM ones are actually from Lemforder so they have again part numbers, but here Meyle has done their research upfront and made this aware to customers.

I'll crunch the numbers tomorrow for you when i get in work on my system and check Meyle out.
The RS has a wider track so as long as its just strength and they've beefed their product up to the Q version then you'll be fine. Its the length n sizes that would concern me plus i've never heard of Meyle - not knocking their stuff they may fit fine which'll be great.
Let us know if they fit

Honestly give jason a call at allgermanparts. He does both oem spec lemforder and meyle. Great guy to deal with and happy to spend 10 mins on the phone helping me decide which make to go for. Mention james put you in touch and im sure he will give you a good bit off the set like he did for me.

I went for the meyle as they have 4 year warranty and uprated "HD" bushings. Not got round to fitting them all yet but feedback seems to be very good on them

I've checked the Tec Doc System and found the following stuff
Meyle's arms are Heavy Duty and manufactured with a 4 yer warranty so it'll be good stuff but i'm still concered on the upper arm size
First Line, Moog, Quinton Hazel & JP Group all list the RS Arms as being the same as a normal A4, Febi and Lemforders cross reference say they are different

See measurements below - the only way to check if they are correct would be to buy one and try it
Not sure why the measurements are different ???

RS4 Upper Arms

N/S Front Upper Arm
Audi 8E0407505Q
Lemforder 29851 Length = 305.5mm
Meyle Equivalent 1160508297/HD Length=273mm

N/S Rear Upper Arm
Audi 8E0407506Q
Lemforder 29852 Length = 305.5mm
Meyle Equivalent 1160508298/HD Length=273mm

O/S Front Upper Arm
Audi 8E0407509Q
Lemforder 29853 Length = 281mm
Meyle Equivalent 1160508297/HD Length=248mm

O/S Rear Upper Arm
Audi 8E0407510Q
Lemforder 29854 Length = 281mm
Meyle Equivalent 1160508297/HD Length=248mm

+1 for Jason. Top bloke, good prices, very knowledgeable and ships them quickly. Can't fault All German Parts. Use them every time now.

BTW Meyle come with four years warranty too and a little cheaper than Lemforder.

Anyone know a decent place which would do this for a reasonable price around London (North West)? What I mean is to replace the entire both sides upper lower with Meyle kit which contains 12 pieces

Apologies for the lack of update. Got round to fitting the arms on sat. Good 4 hour job for a DIY'er like me. All meyle arms compared side by side to stock arms and seemed spot on.

Fitted upper/lower arms and droplinks for now, did not do tie rod ends as they are getting done this week at the same time as alignment.
50 mile road test and wow, what a difference. No more tramlining and car feels so much tighter especislly on turn in.(kw v3's fitted few months bk)

I thought my old arms might have some of the bushes torn but nope they seemed ok.

All in all id defo recommend the meyle HD kit

H&r antiroll bars next then full fluid change and engine work...
