Got a new 5 character private plate to go on the RS4. I'd like to have the plate made up (legally) to the smallest size possible but not sure how it will look with the recesses on the front and rear of my car.
Had a google but didn't find much, anyone running a shortened plate on their B7? How does it look? Should i just go for standard size plates instead?

Sorry, can't help you with a pic of a shortened plate, though I've seen a few. However, I think they're illegal as the plate size is mandatory irrespective of the number of letters/numerals it contains

Hmm... as far as i've understood, the only things that matter are the character size, spacing and space around the characters. So essentially you can chop all the unused white/yellow space away - providing you have left the correct amount around the characters.
Unless the law has changed...!

Man, I reckon it will actually look better to keep the plate the original size, just saying like.

I've got a 5 digit plate short plate, don't like it on the back to be honest, would need to have a shorten recess.
Full size plate with how a short number could look
Front wouldn't look right either as the space is there for a full size plate

That's just not true. At all. The spacing and size/font etc are set, and there has to be a set border width (I think 11mm) around the lettering, as well as things like maker and postcode that are required to be displayed. The total length isn't set.

It might just be what we are all used to but I think the full size plate looks better.

On a slight side note, where did you get the front number plate delete from?/Cost?

That's the US plate holder (smooth with aluminium strips). Similarly, the US tailgate (boot lid) has a shortened recess for the rear too.

IMO a pointless mod unless you've hit an American boot lid or hatch, just looks wrong else.

Whats up with that anyway?
Any other RS cars by audi has got the clean grill and the possibility to take the plate off and just have a clean grill. Even tho, its about 150 pounds in sweden getting turned over for a missing front plate - but this barely happens and i would still take the risk going without it! Is there some aftermarket grills with fullframe grill?
