Wing mirrors

Post by adriangwatson » Fri Dec 20, 2013 6:59 pm

Hi

My brother in law thought that my RS4 wing mirrors could be folded in, he pulled the mirror inwards, and my wing mirror has now popped out of the bracket / clips. The wiring is all still in place.

Is there a trick to get it back on? I've tried just pushing the mirror back on where the bolts are sticking out, but it doesn't seems to want to go. I'm a bit worried about using too much force in case there is a special trick.

Any advice appreciated.

Yep

Best thing is to drive your brother in law to the nearest Audi dealer and get him to pay for a new one.

What an ass, this must've taken some force.

What does he drive? I'm betting the doors are detachable.

Is it somehow seized off, or are you using penetrating fluid as grease?

I put mine back on last weekend, a good shove is all that's required. I stood facing the door, mirror in hand and pushed the housing onto the receiving posts, a bit of a wiggle will encourage the clips to open, but don't be swinging them forwards and backwards, just a wiggle !

Cheers

Mine certainly take a fair bit of force. As others have said, straight in with a little wiggle, but don't be afraid to give it all you've got. Only had to do it twice, but both times it was one hell of a push...
