New to the RS Club
New to the RS Club
Hi all,
I'm looking to change from my Seat Leon FR to an Audi RS4 Avant. I've always wanted a high powered Audi but up until have never been in the financial position to afford one. Despite always wanting one I know very little about them. So is there anything to look for when viewing or test driving one?? Are there any inherent problems that could end being expensive?? What sort of care do they need?? Etc. I'm also very interested in modifying the RS4 should I get one, so are they difficult to modify/upgrade??
Any advise would be fantastic.
Many thanks

it s going to be an eye opener going from a fr to a rs4, mainly for the fuel consumption, but you dont buy an rs to care about mpg

+1 that's the best advice you'll get.jaysrs4 wrote:Search is your friend!!!
You can easily do searches specific to the B7 RS4 section by using the search box on the left, right beside the post new topic button. Says 'search this forum...'
Also, try the FAQ sticky right at the topic of topic lists. And Pistonheads did a buyers guide about a month ago which is worth reading. That's where I'd start if I was doing this all again.
The second thing I'd do is spend a few hours on here just flicking back through historical topics to get a good (if not very focused) summary of the hotter topics. Then you can get a little more focused. Most of the discussions are pretty easy to read and stay on subject I think.
It's great going into RS ownership with eyes wide open. Anything you cant find ask away on here.

I think this is nr1 rule when you consider buying a B7 RS4..they might be reasonably priced now but the running costs are not.but you dont buy an rs to care about mpg
Therefor look for one that has been maintained very well, preferably owned (or prev. owned) by a fanatic/forum member.
Before I bought mine I been seeing and testing about a dozen RS's before running into the one I finally bought.
This one is in a mint condition inside/outside. The only thing that wasn't down was the engine carbon cleaning.
I believe in UK there is a good selection of RS4's!

Hello again.
Well its been an interesting 2 weeks I've been looking at as many RS4's as possible. Got to drive 3 as well and I can now see what all the fuss is about
However I also found out this week that I'm going to be a Father next year so unfortunately the RS4 dream will have to stay just that. I'd like to thank everyone for their advise on my many, many questions. Audi A4 TDI here I come
Cheers

nooo thats not a reason NOT to get an RS4 (congrats by the way!) - I bought mine to replace my wifes Abarth 500 when she was about 3 weeks away from her due date
we've used it for various road trips / holidays and its perfect for lugging our little boy and his clobber around at high speed
