Best exhaust for an RS4
Best exhaust for an RS4
What's everyone's thoughts on exhausts on the rs4? I'm thinking of getting a milltek car back non resonated without the valves!

Very subjective is this area! I have what your planning and love it. Others have fitted Tubi, Vortex, Scorpion and they are very pleased. I liked the Tubi but couldn't justify the cost. Had Milltek Zorsts on previous Cars (S5, M3, Focus RS) and never had issues and was pleased with the sound it provided

Re: Best exhaust for an RS4
There's no 'best' exhaust. There's not much in it in terms of performance, so it's mainly a question of which sound you prefer and which you can afford, and to a lesser extent, which tailpipes you want. Then there's the choice of valved or not. I like noisy exhaust hence the Tubi, but for others it will be too noisy. Milltek is the obvious choice and probably by far the most popular. Lots of other options including one that I may have gone for and that is gutting the precats then dumping the centre silencer.

Agreed with what has already been said. We have a RR day coming up at AMD. If your reasonably local I would advise you to attend.
Hopefully we are going to get some video of the variety of sound set ups from the guys though so that may help you decide even if you aren't able to join us.

I have miltek 200 cell sports cats with standard back box. Along with uprated down pipes. Perfect balance to my ears.

Re: Best exhaust for an RS4
Ive got the non-res, non-valved catback Milltek.
I loved the sound so much, but it wasnt quite as loud as I wanted, so I've just purchased some 100 cell downpipes.
sound quality and volume is a very personal thing, so its quite impossible for me to say what's perfect to you.
I chose non-valved because i'd spend most of my time with flaps open anyway, and couldnt justify the extra cost of them.
My personal preference, (and relying on YouTube videos only), I think I slightly prefer the sound from Tubi and AWE, but they were both considerably more expensive.

Cool, we need video or at the very least a link to a video or soundclip.

Was this on an RS4? Is the owner on the forum?Cal.rs4 wrote:I've just heard a bespoke exhaust from jc weld fabricators! sounds the bollocks
Re: Best exhaust for an RS4
Best exhaust if its just for sounds is whatever one you like the best.
If you want performance the catback alone wont change much but the downpipes will. Plenty.

Think I'm just gonna go with the non resonated milltek without the valves and see if I can get the pre cat taken off? What ya reckon? Will it make much difference to the sound?
