Hello all. Have been test driving a few cars 06 and 07, as I'm looking for a nice one, pref black with mileage in the 40s. I knew that these cars go through brake discs and pads, I am a bit shocked to see on this forum the amount of clutch replacements that have been required. Is the clutch something that will definitely go and its just a question of when? Is it worth getting one that's had the clutch replaced as the original parts were rubbish? Any experiences would really be appreciated.

a bit of a grey area with the OEM clutch, i dont think there has been a definitive answer on what the main cause of most peoples problems are.
the latest thinking is the OEM pressure plate could be the weak link.
OEM is LUK.

It was friction plate that bailed our on mine @ 47k,material came away from the rivet and started to split on one side, only became apparent with high rpm change when i guess the air would get under it and cause it to drag,it was perfect around town, autotechnics had never seen one fail like this.Replaced the whole lot as matter of course. Some guys have done huge miles with no issues but on the other hand i remember a 25k cab having one done years ago while mine was at mrc.

Thanks for the replies.
I was hoping to hear from a mechanic or garage technician who has experience of a few different RS4s' problems.
What I'm trying to say is that I know RS4 ownership is expensive, but if I keep one for 3 or 4 years and during that time I will have to get new discs/pads all round (at least once...) and a new clutch (at least once) on top of fuel/tax/servicing/tyres, I will probably not bother.....

From most people posts on here (mine included) the clutch seems to need replacing around the 60k mark.
Usual symton is that the clutch pedal will stick down and not return.
Disks really depend on how the car has been driven - mine had done 49k on its first set - other s have needed around the 30k mark.
If you
Shop around for parts and use local indy with any work this will bring the price of these items down, rather than using Audi.
