Stoptech rotors
Stoptech rotors
I was going with Loba, but I missed the discount deal. Also Loba doesn't have rears available which I need to be repalced also. So...
I've ordered Stoptech front and rear drilled rotors with zinc plating. Seems that zinc plating rotors are made on order so I will have to wait about few weeks.
Does anybody have any experience with Stoptech replacement rotors?
Some info from their web:

Re: Stoptech rotors
As I couldn't find dealer who would supply me these, I odered them from US.
Drilled and zinc plated are listed 1220 and 1120 USD.
Previously I've ordered various items from this site: http://zeckhausen.com/Audi/RS4.htm
Fast reply and good service. I can recommend.

Re: Stoptech rotors
Wow, that's a lot of cash compared to OE!
I have to say that I don't get the logic behind the zinc plating though - yes, a coating of zinc will offer protection to the inner elements of the rotors, but after not very much use, surely it will just wear through on the friction surfaces, because it'll only be a few microns thick. Have I missed something?...

Re: Stoptech rotors
Stoptech have a good rep in the bike world so I think you will be happy with them.
Re: Stoptech rotors
The coating will wear off the swept area pretty quickly but because that is not all of the disc then the rest will be protected from going rusty.
Re: Stoptech rotors
Correct.
Can't wait the get them fitted!

So, finnaly they have arrived! Car got picked up and is off to get new rotors and pads.
Behind the wheels the rotors don't seem all that big, but you will appreciate the size when you pick them up! They are massiv!

0-100kmh in 4.6 seconds; 0-100-0 in 61.6 seconds?
By my maths, it means it took you 57 seconds to brake from 100kmh.
You trying to show us how crap your brakes are?
The rotors look

Re: Stoptech rotors
How did you get on with these? I'm in the market for some new discs and would look at non OEM for something different but OEM fitment..
Looking at the StopTech ones too but i'm undecided.. The number of drilled holes on that disc stinks of fashion over function to me lol and i'm not sure i even like the look.. Would be good to see the slotted ones..
How have they held up in terms of longevity? Performance? You have any pics of them installed on the car?
I love the look of Stasis' solution but that seems like it's a full rotor and caliper replacement which i'm not in the market for at the moment.

Re: Stoptech rotors
Many cars in the US run stoptech for street and track use with great results. One of the better options out there IMO.Jaheenormous wrote:How did you get on with these? I'm in the market for some new discs and would look at non OEM for something different but OEM fitment..

The Stasis kit is also just a re-branded Alcon kit and does replace the rotor and caliper. Stasis is also out of business currently.

Re: Stoptech rotors
Yeah i'm looking at their grooved option right now, it's definitely a consideration, the only thing that may drive the price up beyond what's reasonable is shipping from US to UK, i can't see a UK supplier and shipping 40kg of metal across the atlantic will cost a fortune, plus import tax etc.. Will have to make some inquiries..
