RS4 Brake Discs upgrade to B8 RS4 discs...

Evening Gents,

I have been looking to upgrade my discs and as always, looked into how I could improve the current setup. :audibash:

Now, with the B8 RS4 having very similar looking brake setup bar discs, I thought this could be an option. Bar buying some discs and trying, I have yet to comfirm if they do fit with some tweaks.

Has anyone tried this upgrade or know anything of it as surely I won't be the first to think of this :kissmyrings:

So far, I know the Centre bore is different, 66.6 for the B8, 57.1 for the B7, (I could machine up metal spigots for the B7 hub) and the B8 caliper part numbers are EXACTLY the same bar the B7 starts with '8E' and the B8 starts with '8T'. The brake pads for the B8, again, share the same part number with the B7 bar the 'E' is a 'T' ,on the B8.

I 'presume' this could be due to a brake hose change? Again, educated guess... :drink:

I have searched all over the web for a definative answer but nothing so far.

Any input or knowledge you could input might be a start to a great upgrade foe the B7! :jump_clap: :greyrs4:

Thanks in advance.

Vick :beerchug:

Am sure iv read that it's been looked at but the hubs on the b8 discs give them the wrong offset for the b7

just curious, would specific aftermark B7 packages like Loba not be a better option or you want to go outside the norm?

The B8 hubs shouldn't make a difference unless you mean the bell itself being thicker than a B7 disc?

Does the Loba upgrade eliminate warping with normal use? I would prefer a OEM upgrade as performance will be good as well as the look. And costs could be something worth comparing as the B8 discs were less than £400 for the fronts if I'm not wrong.

Thanks

Vick :)

Yes sorry I ment the bell messing the disc offset up.

It does sound like you are re-inventing the wheel so to speak here - if they need new bells then unless it is much cheaper to buy B8 discs to throw the bells away then surely you would be better with an already developed upgrade like Loba or the JHM discs ?

i run the loba discs and have no problems with warping ect, and i have used them abnormally :bigblink:
having said that i have never had a problem with oem warping either.

are the b8 rs4 discs an upgrade over the b7 ones?, there probably made from the same <beep> steel.
apart from the weight saving from waveying the discs i dont see how these are better?.
also the way they float the front discs on the b8 rs4 is the same way the do the b7 rs4 rears, is this set up as good as the bobbins and bolts as used on the b7 fronts and loba ect?.

I'm not sure If your seeing this as i Do. It is far from trying to re inventing the wheel. You could say that when Loba made their upgrade. :beerchug:

It's using upgraded OEM Audi parts to improve the looks and performance without the extra costs. They don't need new bells, what they need is some machining work to match the OEM ofset as the B8 bells seem thicker from what online research I have done. But in essence, you could have a built in spacer by leaving the disc alone if it fits. Just the CB size to deal with. Maybe some sort of Spigot?

Sar could you exlpain further on the way they floar on the B8? They may not be better than the B7 in reality but visually they look much better and it could work out to be as cheap as OEM B7 disc replacement. I appreciate you have never had OEM discs Warp but just a simple search shows many discs warping within a few miles unless the Audi breaking procedue is done. :bash:

Any more helpful information would be great.

I am trying to source some used discs or something I can use as a mock up. :nodder:

Thank you.
