Based on the fact that an increase of 6 dB doubles the volume you'd be looking at something 5-6 times louder and likely to do serious damage.

;-) I think 140DB is artillery fire so 150DB will certainly wake people up.... :rocker:

Maybe fitting high tensile bolts with various heads would help deter theives unless they carry a whole tool box with them.

I'm going to look into this as I do have 3m film inside but this makes me think its useless now.

The Audi garage that is dealing with my car currently have 3 others that have had the seats and steering wheel nicked, and another 8 or so that have been done in the past 6 months.

3db doubles the sound pressure wave force.
10dba is double the sound heard by the human ear (due to the very cool way the ear adjusts to dampen loud noises... Consider human speech is about 60db and a jet taking off is 100db... Even though the sound waves are give or take 8100 times more powerful you perceive the jet as only 4 times as loud).

120db is thunderstorm loud. Very painful to most people. It's louder than a rock concert.
150db will rupture eardrums causing perm damage.

Also it's not only db... a high frequency noise as lower db can cause more pain than simply adding db.

It's certainly a good deterrent. I love the FAQ about replacing it with poisonous gas.

I think I'd want a manual kill switch regardless of how installed. And 300 quid... it's not cheap.
However the refills are quite cheap... be worth it for comedy value to have it work under remote control too ;)

All, a quick update on progress with Audi uk, had a call in response to my numerous emails and some progress being made. Police are in touch with Audi and I have some people further up te Audi food chain calling me to discuss my views. If anyone has any specific points, comments they would like me to make then let me know.

The key point I think is that it is in audi's own interest to offer an insurance friendly option.
With 13k for a pair of seats no insurance company or owner is ever going to pay it.
If they had a suitable seat option for 4k or under then it means less cars written off and audi have just made some cash.

A long time ago around 18 years ago, we use to sell Clifford Air Horns that worked via the factory siren with a relay if you can get these bad boys.

You would hear it for miles

quick update, i have been to see my mate and he said that he will make these from stcratch and will have its own locking key, so each set will be differant, it wont be cheap tho but he only wants 20 members to get the production rolling, i will get some more info when i go tuesday and will post up to see if we can get the 20 people, i know i have had 5pm's so far on this.

I asked how much and he thinks it could try do it for less that £200 which is good if you all get a individual key, again i spoke on what to do if you loose and you will only be able to purchase another key if you have the card thats sent with your bolts and the reciept, no company names will be said either to keep the security of this.

i will try get a set made up for a sample for AITP where i will be trading so you may be able to see these in the flesh.

Good spot. Mine were half cloth but only got th front seats, I suppose this could have been built up from a few seperate cars. Mine had a pretty distinctive few marks on the passenger seat that I can't spot.

So difficult to tell.

Thanks for the link

Popped into Jack Barclay the other week they have two brand new seats in stock. I was talking to Adam the MT he said they would do discount on them. I only spotted them as their was an R8 being sized up for them to be fitted. Apparently their is huge weight advantage with them over the standard R8 seats.
