Chipped Alloy :-( any advice?

Post by bubc » Thu Jul 18, 2013 7:47 pm

Got a nasty stone chip on one of the inside faces of one of the spokes on front left alloy and its annoying the s&£t out of me! Any tips or advice for a self repair? Or is it just easier to get a specialist to refurb? I'm in Aberdeenshire so would welcome recommendations for alloy refurbers in the area, cheers.

touch up stick? or spray paint in the cap and use kitchen roll as a brush, this is also good for stone chips.

Cheers guys, should have taken a photo before coming back to work.......its about the size of a pinkie nail so think it'll have to be chips away or the likes

Used chips away in Aberdeen - i forget the guys name, but he did a decent enough job, this was on the rear bumper of one of my cars but it was silver, rocked up with colour charts (a la dulux style :) ) and matched it very close

There is the wheel specialist in Dyce - not used them personally but have heard generally good reviews - they might mix you up a colour match tin or advise - likely they'll try and sell you on a full refurb.

I recently got a tin from Paints4u for a couple tiny stone chips - they might be able to sort you something depending if there is a paint code for your wheels or a very near general colour
