Went in today to talk to someone about the new RS4. Walked around looking around the cars in showroom and they had an SQ5 in so had a bit of a look at that. No one came to see me even after 15 mins.

Went to reception and asked the nice lady about the RS4 ie, delivery times etc. she went to ask salesman and came back saying Dec/ Jan time.

I asked is there anyone available to talk to me about the car and ways of purchasing. She went away and came back and said not really at present as all busy, didn't even ask if I wanted to wait - so I went.

It's a fair one if they are busy but I was the ONLY person in showroom. None of salesman were busy and were just talking to each other.

Was it because I was wearing shorts and t- shirt and not business looking? Who knows.

Puts me off bothering to waste my time.

i would complain to the sales manager or audi uk! a good few years ago my best mate was in the market for an s3. he went to our local dealer and because he,s not the smartest dressed guy they hardly gave him the time of day despite him asking for some assistance and was just rude towards him. in the end he travelled up the line and bought 1 from the vindis group less than a year old so must of been 25k ish. he went back after to rub there nose in it and the sales manager asked why he didn,t come to them first. he explained the situation and the appropriate rude sales guy from before had a talking too. now they cannot do enough for him! its worth having a word i would say!

I had similar, only today.
Had an appointment booked at main dealer. Kept me waiting for an hour, I got bored/annoyed and walked. Left a message with the receptionist that the guy in question should give me a call.

Nadda

Idiots.

I would say deffo your attire.

Our local premium German manufacturers agent (err BM cough) dealership is well known for turning their nose up if you dare to grace the showroom not looking affluent enough to purchase said vehicle, I thought this for some years going in myself only to buy parts (you have to walk across the showroom edge) and it seemed like the walk of shame as I would be in my scruffs then two different BM owners confirmed my thoughts - both had gone elsewhere for their new purchase!

I turned up to buy my new RS4 in shorts and a hoody, but then I'm naturally a scruffy bugger :)
I had made an appointment though, so that may have made the difference

A good friend of mine is a multi millionaire property developer, and he drives around in a transit style Renault van, is always covered in muck and is generally looking like a pikey. Regardless of his look, he could comfortably walk into a ferrari dealer and buy the entire showroom. Dealers should be aware of this, so look past appearance

In terms of your experience, I'd probably walk away and buy from someone else. However, the sensible thing to do would be to phone the dealer principle directly and explain how disgusted you are, as this may enable you to position yourself for a better deal than you would otherwise get

Also, if they're claiming a 6month lead time at that dealership, try Matt in Audi Swindon or Martyn in Audi bath as I'm sure both dealerships have earlier build slots than that and both those guys are 'RS Specialists' (Martyn said he'd sold 17 RS4's this year already)
Fwiw, I bought mine through Martyn and he got me a day in their R8 V10 too, which was a lot of fun, but left my RS4 feeling soft and sluggish :biggrin3:

Martyn at Bath Audi is highly recommended.

Not bought from him directly but has been immensely helpful in the past, above and beyond IMHO.

Yeah, he's a good guy and very helpful

Btw, just followed your R8 V10 link. That brown interior is stunning

Cheers for this - it's just so annoying as I'm in a position to buy a car like this for the first time in my life and this is how they treat you.

Haven't had my B7 that long but have fallen in love with the 4 and so massively keen to get the B8. Never mentioned that they weren't even keen to even try and get me a test drive of one when I rang a week or so ago :(

Give either Matt or Martyn a call. You're buying a £65k car, they'll treat you well and it'll be worth the trip down the M5 to this fine end of the country.

Both Wolverhampton and Halesowen sales are poor. Saying that, their service department is :dung: aswell.

Well if you we're near Poole, I would have said go to Audi down here very helpful, I may look at the New Rs 4 early next year, I have had a test drive but must admit it did not wow me.
I will ask to have it for 24hrs to see if I can love it as will look to change to something next year.

Serves the stealers right for judging on appearance. Idiots.

I too am of the scruffy brigade and always will be, part of my industry really. There are a *lot* of very scruffy and very wealthy people involved in technology so ignore them at your peril main dealer muppets.

It's not just audi tbh , few months back ( late feb iirc and it was snowing ) I went to swap my 62 plate sportvan for the new transit custom . I had been to polar that day where I got it from in the first place but called at lookers ford near the business to see if they had the spec I wanted , I was met with 5-6 months lead time and dismissed out of hand . Polar came back with the right spec and in stock so I bought it there and then ... Service is everything from thd dealers and I dress likd a scruff but the dealer knows i just turf up and buy something and pay outright no messing . Had thd same with jaguar several years back and kicked off then they wised up!
